aerial view of some of it- looks worse than I thought- Im curious about their building codes up there as compared to ours for beach homes

A Georgia based brewery has switched from churning out beer to water to help victims of superstorm Sandy, MyFoxAtlanta reports.

For a few days, beer will take a backseat at Anheuser-Busch, making water a top priority for those who need it.

"It's devastating. We have a lot of employees who have families who have been hurt personally by this," said Rob Haas, general manager of the plant.

The brewery plans on shipping 1 million cans of drinking water to New York and New Jersey from its Cartersville, Ga., brewery, MyFoxAtlanta reports.

For every Yankee who watched as we ran around getting ready for and cleaning up after storms and said "This is a hurricane? This is nothing, we get bigger storms than this"......

Congratulations. You got one. Maybe now you understand why we take them seriously.

Just found this topic.

 

During Sandy, I lived in Nutley, NJ - small town in Essex county NJ, 20 or so minutes from NYC. The storm wasn't bad with rain, even wind honestly. It was the storm surge that flooded everything. We had beer and food and candles/flashlights at the ready. We lost power around 6pm that Sunday night - wasn't restored until Saturday. It was a rough week, no food after awhile, no hot water, gas shortage, etc.

 

But we made it out pretty lucky. My buddy used to live on the Lower East Side and his place was pretty much destroyed.
