Dominican cigars are good. Almost as good as Cubans, without that pesky embargo thing. I would recommend going to a good tobacco/cigar shop in your area and talk to them. They will be able to give you something that suits your tastes.

I would recommend Romeo Y Julieta for someone just starting out. You can find some nice mild, smooth RYJs to ease you into the cigar smoking experience. And pretty much any cigar place would sell them.
