The Next GM

You're right, it's not a lock that Rivera will be gone. But let me ask you one question, what has Rivera done that makes you think he should keep his job. Because I know for a fact that this team hasn't improved because we are 2-7. We are going to have a new GM and more then likely he will want his own guy. It just doesn't make sense to keep him around.

IMO, the only person that needs to go is Chud.

Defense is vastly improved. ST is better. We are making fewer mistakes. We are playing with fire and intensity. We are getting there, albeit rather slowly. But considering what he had to start with, I think Rivera is doing well.

If Chud gets his head outta his azz, we can be good. That should be enough to keep Rivera around to see if he can finish the job he started.

I ain't exactly thrilled with Rivera at the moment. I just feel he has earned the right to finish what he started. If he can get Chud to call a real offense that is.

Just because it's easier doesn't make it better. Our current wave looks like it's about to smash us headfirst into a seawall.

We set ourselves up for this. The expectations were through the roof. Unfortunately, Chud killed them. I am a firm believer in this team. IF, Chud gets his head together. Otherwise, everyone could be gone.

I just happen to believe this team is getting better. With a proper offense we can be good, maybe even pretty good. So I think Rivera has earned the right to finish what he has started.

Expectations is what makes a team. So as fans are we suppose to just believe that we are not going to be good and finish the season 3-13 or something like that. No, it doesn't work like that. Coaches are expected to coach and groom players. Our team is worst then last year and I can understand not being good last year due to circumstances. Their is no excuses.

Also Rivera is the head coach right? That means he should tell Chud when things aren't working. Not just let them happen. That falls on his shoulder also. I'm not going to take anything away from the D because they have played good.

He's the head coach, he has the power to fire him right this second if he wanted to, and the fact he hasn't already and has LET him ruin cam's progression as well as running a base college IN THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE

coupled with playing scared at times (see: SQUIBBING TO DEVIN HESTER(who hasn't returned a TD all season) THE WHOLE F*CKING GAME) isn't a cause for concern for you?? Oh and don't forget that Richardson already had reservations about him before hiring him and this was hurney's hire, and the defense's improvement can easily be sustained and built upon with another competent defensive coaching staff with the talent we have... Plus too many other things to explain right now cuz I'm about to go smoke a joint but yeah he sucks.. aaaand #endrant

Fans of Jimmy Raye, you may wanna prep for disappointment.

Gantt is reporting that the Chargers will fire both head coach Norv Turner and GM A.J. Smith at season's end.

Speculation is that Raye is expected to get the Chargers GM job after Smith is sent packing.

thought i would throw this nugget in here

*We’re hearing three names being pushed by Ernie Accorsi in Carolina are Ravens director of pro scouting George Kokinis, Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross and Giants senior pro personnel analyst Dave Gettleman. Accorsi worked with all three men previously and knows them well. Kokinis hasn’t been mentioned for many jobs lately, but is a highly qualified candidate. He comes from the respected Ozzie Newsome tree, and he has experience as a general manager.

I'm kind of on the fence about this - the other part of this rumor is that John Spanos would be his right hand man. College scouting wise, both do get really good marks, moreso in late rounds/UDFAs. If Raye REALLY is Dean's next guy, and AJ/Norv are gone - why not now? Bisaccia can interim.

    • His o loaded with swift, dj, Keenan and Rome was inconsistent at best. The d was bad. And the game management was atrocious and lost them games.  He was terrible and made the team worse. I wish they kept him
    • That is my point.  I think teams make a huge mistake when they pay their decent to average QBs top QB money because they feel that they have to match the market or lose their investment--There is no way, for example, that Tua or Prescott or Murray should all be making more than Mahomes--I mean, Dak makes $15m per season more than Mahomes. People say, "Well, when its his turn...." But that is not how it should be--so my point was that Bryce can be doing mediocre to good enough in 2 years, but the way it is going, you have to pay him at the starting QB rate--currently $60m.  So even if you think he will continue to improve, at $60 m, he would eliminate any chance for a ring---so my view is, if he is not elite, you cut him.  So you draft QBs now and see what you can make of them.
    • With two 4ths and three 5ths I’m hoping we can kill it on adding depth. Take a gamble with the two 7ths.  First 3 picks id love to address the defense. I expect Tuttle, Robinson, and Jewell to all be on the 2025 roster but not after that. Be a good time to add depth and let them develop a year.
