Will Rivera cut dead weight now?

If it was me I would sit CJ for the first QT. Just to prove a point.

Sitting him the first quarter doesn't prove a point IMO. All it does is tell CJ that we wish we could do something to you but you are the only halfway decent player on the dline so we are going to come up with some useless faux-punishment for you being a complete fuging retard.

If he is smart he starts with Scam and rids us of our greatest mistake

Cam runs the plays he is told! He can't control the stupid ass zone read plays he gets! And to call him "Scam" shows you are probably not even a real fan! So stfu please!

I don't see who he would get rid of that would make any appreciable difference who we also have a replacement for ready to go. You'd just be getting rid of a player to make a point and anyone you can afford to do that with won't make that much of a point anyway. It think it's way more likely that this staff will not make significant personnel moves unless they are necessary (replacement for Gamble on the active roster if they can dig one up, for instance) and will look to get into the offseason / new GM with minimal bullshit.

As for benching players to make a point, what would it accomplish? Marty Hurney, who Jerry Richardson has a close relationship with and stated he would not replace with any other GM in the NFL, being fired has everyone well aware that noone is safe. No further reminders are necessary IMO.

Coaches, on the other hand, I could see going sooner rather than later. Especially in the direction of the offensive coaches - if Rivera is in "save my job" mode we could see a lot of quick turnover on that staff to try to earn him a reprieve from the axe he probably feels is falling.
