He wasn't given the job day one if I remember correctly and I do! Jimmy was the starter going into Camp and started the first preseason game. You don't bring somebody in to compete with your franchise qb. You build around him and put him in positions to succeed. Fumbles our part of the game, Interceptions are part of the game, if a Cam interception means an automatic loss that says more about the team than it does about the quarterback.

Yea I'm letting it go my point was he wasn't just handed the job. Jimmy started out getting the first team reps. Say what you want but Jimmy was given a chance to win that job. Of course he wasn't going to win it because he doesn't have Cam's talent but they gave him a shot.

competition is a fantastic thing. i'd be all about our new coaching staff bringing in a veteran and declaring an open competition between him and cam.

If Cam keeps playing like this through the end of the season.....said rookie probably wins it.

That's what'd you want ideally and I would agree is a free agent. But the list of FA qbs next year looks a little pooty to say the least. It looks like drafting one may be the only way to bring in a legitimate competitor.

Even if it's a guy in the 4th round that falls. If Jones fall take him. If you can get Nassib in the 4th you jump all over it.

Cam just needs a team and coaching staff around him. Nothing more. Carolina has implemented the textbook blueprint for what you don't do to a young QB.

Cam surprisingly has had us in almost every game of his career despite it.

We have scored 14 points or less in 4 of 6 games this year. The defense has had us in the game...Cam and the offense have not gotten it done.
