Rivera's Presser FINALLY

How so?

I'm clueless about how these things work. Did Marty have any day to day input?

To me, and it's just my opinion... Rivera made a point to emphasize that all the decisions ended with him. The way he said it, the authority with which he said it... Just leads me to believe that this is "new" for him. Which leads me to believe that Marty probably had the final call. Not anymore

Ok interesting.

I really haven't thought about what a GM does day to day

Couple things stand out to me:

The decisions stop with me......... ok buddy, show it or pack it in.

Things are gonna change.......ok, lets see if you were being held back.

Mentioned several times and he looked like he was "holding his tongue" more than normal. I think he got a fire lit in his a$$ at 8:30 am. Heck, he probably thought that call-in was his pick slip at first.

When McDermott was asked a couple of weeks ago if Beason would be back in the middle he replied that would depend upon at least 4 people's opinion, including Hurney's. Why in the fug Marty's opinion on who started where or when on game-day is beyond me, but that is what he said.

Marty had more say so than most think.

After seeing that, something tells me that Rivera has been held back by Marty. We will get a chance to see what what RR has as a head coach with FC.

At the worst, he gets fired after the season... Which we all figured was the case this am after hearing the Hurney news.

At best, we might find that Rivera really is a great coach, being held back by his GM

Time will tell on this one...10 games is plenty to evaluate him and his staff...

How does Marty Hurney hold back Rivera's dumbass play calls?

How does Marty Hurney hold back Rivera's dumbass play calls?

Well being that Marty has already taken FULL responsibility for our record, and based off of RR's presser, and more stuff coming out of the woodwork about Sean McDermott not being in control with who he can even start... I'd say that ole Marty was the final say with a lot of things... Btw, the HC isn't in charge of play calling on the offensive side of the ball. That falls on Chud... And I'm pretty sure that IF* Marty was instructing this coaching staff to run those plays... Well then we're in for a world of change come Sunday

Also, I don't know of you missed the contempt RR had when referring to putting Gamble on IR... It's almost as if HE would have done that LAST week, but was unable to do so because he was handcuffed by Marty.

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
