You do if you have an entire staff letting you know how well players are doing.

I am not saying he can be football illiterate, but he/she doesn't need to be great talent evaluators. He needs a qualified staff that handles that.

That's like saying a head coach will be ok as long as he has good coordinators. Just not the case. The coordinators can be replaced (see New England); it's the guys at the top that need to be extraordinary.

Not really. A head coach is more intimately involved in the day to day.

A better analogy is you don't need a president who has extensive knowledge of warfare, only generals that can convey to him recommendations.

Understood. For my part, I want a guy who knows enough to see whether the scouts are giving him good info or not.
