The decisions that a GM makes take the longest to fix and a new GM will need years to have his philosophy installed. So glad we didn't wait any longer.

So this will obviously have no effect on this season except for how coaches and players feel

New coaches can potentially right a ship immediately

It's a lot like a political change from one party to the next. A small amount of time is spent changing what the first guy installed. The next bit is about installing your own plans/ideas.

The salary cap complicates things.

A new GM is going to want his own HC etc.....

Exactly... Rivera can't be too comfortable right now. Once a new GM is hired, Rivera may be shown the door soon after. No GM in his right mind is gonna lay his career on the line with a 7-15 head coach.

I loved the RIvera signing. I really thought he put together a group of coaches that wanted to teach and develop talent. But, when the Panthers came out with that read option heavy offense after the bye week, I can no longer stand with him. Should have beat the Cowturds. They tried to give it to us, but we kept giving it right back to em.

Works for me.... my biggest fear was the Panthers going on a wins streak, finishing strong at 8-8, 7-9 etc, we get another false reality and all was back and next season start 1-5 again. NOW I can enjoy the rest of the seaon, without that fear.

The Panthers will definitely finish strong... we still have all of our AFC West opponents.
