Interesting Rivera News

Brooklyn Bully

Recommended Posts

I remember the days when perfect character from players was more valuable to fans than performance.

It still is (unless you can play). Case in point, Wilson, the LB we drafted last year. Had that happened to a starter, he would have taken his punishment and gone right back on the field. And all of us as fans would have rationalized it.

Character only counts if you're not playing well or if you play for some other team.

It's true that if you yell/cuss/stomp all the time, it loses its effect. You can say 'man up' all you want but most of us would be the same way if our boss was like that.

What's worse, if the stories about Richardson are true, then you have a 'hardass parent / permissive parent' scenario, and that's a recipe for dysfunction.

On the positive side, Tom Coughlin used to have this problem but learned to tone it down. It's fixable, but you have to be willing to do the work.

Whoa whoa, lets not mention Rivera's name with a two time Superbowl winning head coach. Tom Coughlin has been a consistent winner. Ron Rivera was interviewed for at least a dozen head coaching spots over the years but incompetent Carolina was the one who hired him and now we're seeing what all those other teams saw - a dude you don't want coaching your team.

Actually, im as critical of Rivera as anyone on here but I have to defend him here. Our players are pussies of this is true. Rex Ryan and Bellicheck both do the same thing. I actually have a little more respect for Rivera if thats true, our players deserve it. Not all of them but a lot of them, boo hoo. They get paid millions and they complain about profanity? Really?

Yeah agree with this

lurking? i think this sounds like one he would start.

Weren't his sources buddies, or friends of friends? Mine is someone who works weekly, if not daily, with players in a non-game mode. They talk very openly with this person about all sorts of stuff. If you simply MUST know, I've said who it is in the past. But I'd hate to lose my yearly nuggets from this person if it ruffled feathers.

Tom Coughlin used to be someone that couldn't get it done either. His teams always faded down the stretch and players considered him an overbearing blowhard.

That's the Coughlin I'm comparing Rivera to. He fixed his problems. What's to say Rivera can't?

I agree with you but it may not be with the Panthers.

If true he certainly could, it just won't be here.

It took Coughlin how long to make the changes he did?

Losing has a way of throwing things off kilter. A-type personallities have a hard time losing. I can see why Rivera could be irritated. Seeing the myriad of ways this team has for losing. How can you coach a team that cannot get out of its own way?

Different players are motivated in different ways. A good coach will find each players button. IMO, Rivera is still learning his players. I am willing to support him. For the time being anywho. We are improving. Stop the self inflicted wounds, and we can be good.

I just happen to believe that is what Rivera is most annoyed with. The unforced errors. I see this team trying hard and playing hard. They already know how to lose. Now they have to learn to win.

Other than the offensive woes. This team is not playing that badly. So if he IS yelling at anyone. I hope it is Chud.
