Interesting Rivera News

Brooklyn Bully

Recommended Posts

Just got an email back from a friend of mine who covered the Bears when Rivera was the DC. Quote:

I'm not saying I believe what the OP said or not. However, I wouldn't go off of what he was like as a DC compared to him being a HC now. He's under a lot more pressure and stress now as the HC and losing compared to at Chicago as a DC and winning.

He could be at the tipping point ready to snap causing unusual for him behavior.

Heck, our beat writers would have reported the same thing. Pretty sure coaches act differently when the press is in the room.

So expect Joe Person to tweet this in 2 years? Still waiting on the news that Rivera was hired as our HC from him.

I've felt that one of the big issues with this team is a core of players accustomed to losing/mediocrity.

Ding ding ding we have a winner.

Why go all out when you get record contracts for subpar performance just because you are considered a JR/Hurney guy? Be nice, play mediocre, and say the right things and you are set for life. Everything about the team, from the atmosphere of the stadium to the attitude on the field, is just too nice. Nice doesn't win football games.

I still stand by my thought this team needed to be gutted and the "core" redefined when Fox left. Hurney pretty much drafted Cam and maintained the core was the same.

I think the entire team could of used a different vibe. Team overall has always come across to nice and soft. Smith excluded. D especially. OL as well.

Couldn't agree more. In my opinion, this is the product of the youth of this team. None of these guys know how to win. Even our veterans (Smith, Gross, Gamble) have only been a part of a couple winning seasons.

On another note, this team lacks physicallity and toughness. Name one player on this team that you would define as a "tough and physical" dude. (other than Thomas Davis and Jon Beason).

This team, at the player level, has absolutely no leadership.

Gross is not a leader (he has an awe shucks approach)

Williams-Stewart (neither of these guys are leaders, in fact both these guys seem like 15 year olds trapped in older bodies) ----> love both of thier abilities though

Cam is not a leader (yet, too early and needs to mature)

Smith (I have little doubt that everything he says in the locker room goes in one ear and out the other)

Charles Johnson (anyone remember all his comments before he received his pay day) ---->This guy is extremely talented, however he's a follower. On a defense with strong veteran leadership, he is probably a dpoy candidate.

Kalil is a jokester

Gamble (has anyone ever heard him speak?)

Could honestly care less what Rivera does behind closed doors. The team is underperforming for whatever reason and something needs to be done. All that matters to me is he makes the right calls with the game on the line and the team wins. He has done neither and might be fired after two seasons when the team finishes 2-14 again.
