Interesting Rivera News

If a coach is calling a guy Mr. Mopeyhead to the media, he better not be cussing him out with F-bombs behind closed doors. One of the personas would come across as extraordinarily fake, and I would tune him out also.

I don't think he is cursing out the 23 yr old kid with the team on his back most Sunday. Overall Cam has played above and beyond what would be expected...,

Now, I fully believe he is cursing out all those who need to get on Cam's level (as he has said)

Last year....yes.

This year.....no. Cam has NOT played above and beyond what is expected. Like the rest of the team, his play has been subpar. Holding the ball too long in the pocket.....trying to force the ball into coverage when the TE is open....overthrowing passes all over the field.

EVERYONE on this team is off right now. I do put the majority of that on Chud and his damn read option scheme. However, the guys on the field have been poor in execution as well.

This isn't an article or new piece. I'm not required to name a source. If I was 100% sure players don't read this board, I'd gladly say their name. But since they have the player's trust, I'd like to continue to let this person share info with my family every year like they have been doing casually.

It's not that they can't take the cursing, it's that they're tired of it. We all know how bad tuning a coach out can be. Makes me think of Vernon Davis, Moss, or T.O. sitting on a bench paying no attention to the coach talking to them.

Just got an email back from a friend of mine who covered the Bears when Rivera was the DC. Quote:

I wouldn't really believe something like that, unless he's changed a lot since here. It took a lot for Ron to ever slip into profanity. It was almost never directed at players. I do remember a '06 tiff between him and Briggs. Lance was upset with the front office and dogging it in practice. Rivera said something along the lines of "one of us fat f*cks is going to start giving a fat f*ck about practicing like a fat f*ckup." They laughed about it later. When Smith ditched Ron after the Super Bowl a lot of players, Briggs included, were dumbfounded.

makes the team sound mentally soft. based on tweets i've seen though, a lot of them are christian, and probably tune out all profanity laced dialogue.

or it could be that they just got too used to a coach that just chewed gum and clapped his hands a lot.

Actually, im as critical of Rivera as anyone on here but I have to defend him here. Our players are pussies of this is true. Rex Ryan and Bellicheck both do the same thing. I actually have a little more respect for Rivera if thats true, our players deserve it. Not all of them but a lot of them, boo hoo. They get paid millions and they complain about profanity? Really?

I know what you are saying but the coaches job is to motivate players to play at the highest level.I dont care if it includes cursing them or not, the good leader will have them playing at a high level and I do not see that with Rivera. Cursing can either motivate players or turn them off but it has to be effective.
