Beason's knee "flared up" this week; Onatolu to IR

love how we never fail to get the injury bug to our star players. Never see the saints and having breesus or colston hurt, never see the falcons having roddy white hurt or abraham. smfh. why nfl gods?!

I'm pretty sure Grimes was IR'd for the Faclons he's a star player. They just have quality depth.

To be honest, we only have about 20 players on our roster who are worth building a team around. And how funny it is that none of the 20 that come to mind have huge contracts except maybe J-Stew but lets be honest, he is one of the major cogs that makes this offense tick (When it decides to tick). He deserves that money and I believe he should be the featured back. As for the rest of the roster, most of them are scrubs who couldn't make second string on any of the Top 15 teams in the NFL. There are other great players on this team that aren't on my 20, but they are either overpaid, underutilized or on their way out, so I don't count them.

That's right, people. 20. Just 20 out of a 53 man roster.

Beason's 1st injury that kept him out of a game was last year. Yes he missed the whole season and is now nursing nagging injuries, I think it's wayyyy to early and critical to call him Morgan 2.0 and why would we trade him? When he's healthly, he's a beast of LB. The man has played his but off long enough for us that he deserves a little bit more support from his fans....but wait, this is the huddle

I support him, I'm just gonna temper my expectations.

I won't be participating in any "just wait till Beason is back to normal" talk. It's far from guaranteed he'll be able to get back to where he was.

Fandom is nice, but from a strictly business perspective, I'd be asking for a restructure soon. Other teams have done it. Paying players who aren't the same guy anymore is becoming too common on this team.

Our money shouldn't be invested in the LBs anyway. It should be mostly in the defensive line and secondary.

please no more blowing it up.

thanks.

get a GM that can build (using FA, trades, and the draft) around what we have (that's worth building around). let rivera run the D and get an OC who can use all of the talent on his roster.

I think we just have different meanings of "blowing it up". We pretty much half detonated with Fox, then used our core from the previous regime to build around as transitional pieces into a new one. Hasn't worked out too well. We decided to keep the wrong pieces that were 'worth it to build around' as you put it and we're seeing the results. CJ was a good piece to keep though albiet he does have consistency issues.

I'd consider changing GM, new coaching, and at least 50% roster overhaul to be "blowing it up". If we go anywhere from 2-14 to 5-11, something substantial is going to have to happen both from a personel and fo standpoint.

Honestly, my only real 100% for sure keepers...

FO & Coaching:

None

Offense:

Cam

Stewart

Olsen

Kalil

Silatolu

Defense:

CJ

Alexander

Keek

Gamble

Norman

ST:

Nortman

That really is about it for me. This is likely different for everyone but I'm just saying some of our "good" players are much more expendable than people let on and our existing core from Foxy worked for Foxy, not Rivera & Chud so far.

Don't have a problem with that, it's just all the cut or move Beason, let Kuechly play talk since the draft. Give him a chance to recover from and come back...this is why we drafted Kuechly

A few quick points...

1) Onatolu to IR frees up a spot for Gettis. So it looks like AE survives yet again.

2)Beason's contract has 3 more years after this one. Should we want to do something with him, we have to consider the $12 million in bonus that has not yet hit the cap.

3) For Rayzor, no, Hurney does not injure the players, but he did sign Beason to a $50 million deal when he was already dealing with ankle problems. Those same problems kept him out of all training camp last year and finally ended up with him tearing his Achilles.

That was one of those signings that I thought was too hasty. Not that Beason's isnt a good player; however, with a new coaching staff coming in and not fully knowing what defensive scheme would be implemented, it wouldn't have hurt to have given him another season to see how well he'd fit in with the new system, recover from injury, etc. Hindsight is 20/20, but this Hurney and staff should have put more thought into this decision.

Thomas Davis is our best LB, and I think he should be at the Will spot going forward. Robinson wanted no piece of TD after awhile, and is a major reason why Kuechly had a lot of success against Seattle.

Well, there is no debate IMO....best WLB on this team is TD. Best MLB? Now is Luke. By the time Beason fully recovers....Luke may have continued to improve and Beason simply never is at a postion to overtake Luke.

Said it pre draft, based on they way Luke projected.....if he turns out to be THAT, that will be a better MLB than Beason. Let him earn the job this year. Beason will take WLB when healrhy bc TD ain't gonna last seasons.
