Time for a motivational speech about Panthers' Pride in 2009

The Panthers were 12-4 last year, and notwithstanding a collective brain fart from some of the key players (on the field and on the sidelines), The Panthers would have probably played in another game or two. Now you have sports pundits, and even fans, basically setting .500 give or take a game, as the standard this coming season, despite having basically the same team (with one more year of experience under its belt, and a bad taste in its mouth[a taste that smacks of Cardinal]). One main thing that I feel a lot of people are forgetting is that sometimes irritation breeds motivation, and with that motivation comes a huge chip on the shoulder that fuels heart.

This season, in a large part, is going to show us about the true heart of the organization as it exists today. The Panthers have had to sit around for weeks thinking about how they got punked in their own house, in front of a national audience, with the big dance just (just) over the horizon.

I am thinking---as a matter of fact, I know---that this talented team has a lot of pride. It has some mouths to shut, some scores to settle, and some asses to kick. Look at the chip on that shoulder as a diamond in the rough.

This isn't like last year when people were saying much the same thing, now there are a bunch of "wounded" cats that may have been punked into a corner, but will come out with a ferocity that will ironically catch a bunch of detractors and "downgraders" off guard.

It's all about the Panthers' Pride in 2009. Watch out!

Remember that: Sometimes irritation breeds motivation.

Good post... i agree, i think the whole team is going to come out on fire. that loss has been festering for quite a while, and if the coaches know what they're doing - and they do - they'll find a way to channel that festering into chip-on-the-shoulder fire out on the field.

Not this season but next we will do good thats how we roll 1 good season and bad the next sorry!

fan fail

because we are slaves to our past. go to training camp and tell the players that. i would love it. tell them that it doesn't matter how much they change or try to improve, it is going to result in a bad season. i'm sure they will listen to your intelligent sentiments and appreciate you keeping them from their futile effort to have a winning season.

So original. Did you think of that on your own?

Last year is over, I don't base this year on what happened last year. We have the talent to win as many games as last year. This upcoming season will be the Panthers best season ever!

There is enough negativity in the world as it is, why would I help spread more?

Every season I hear most sports writers say something like 'The Panthers will go as far as Jake takes them'. I agree. We can drag Jake to the Playoffs, but it's on his shoulders to advance and win the SB. Either he pulls an Arizona part 2, or we advance. Jake is the weakest link. If he sucks, then the chain breaks. So I say we go as far as Jake can take us.

The odds of another Arizona performance is like 1 in a million. I'm counting on it anyway.

Look i would love for them to prove me wrong but untill then im going with the facts of our teams history.Even if they play good something will happen watch i promise you injuries or something just watch.

7-9 here we come

facts that the past dictates that what the panthers or anyone else does in the future. that we are enslaved to the past. the fact that we have no choice...the panthers destiny is screwed and written in stone.

pardon me if i don't buy your crap. i still would love for you to go to training camp and let the panthers know that history says that no matter what they do or how hard they work, they aren't going to have a winning season. i'm sure that they will appreciate it just like we all do.

    • First of all Sooners fan? Mods? Second if you think someone needs a specific reason to hate Texas you don’t watch real college football.
    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
