Would Mike Holmgren be an upgrade from Ron Rivera?

I'm not really on the fire Rivera bandwagon but I've always like Holmgren. Should it be something JR considers/pursues (Change of head coach) if we have a total continue to stink it up ALL season?

Edit

Forgot to mention that NFL.com is reporting his gone after this season.

Worst win percentage in NFL, since 2010

Team Win Pct.

Panthers .243

Browns .263

Rams .316

Going from the Browns to Panthers, he would do nothing.

I kinda meant him as head coach.

Career record 161-111-0 (Regular Season)

13-11 (Postseason)

174-122-0 (Overall) Super Bowlwins 1996 Super Bowl XXXI Championships won 2005 NFC Championship

1997 NFC Championship

1996 NFC Championship

Of course I dont even know if Holmgren would want to coach anymore. Just speculation on my part.

No - because I don't feel like a retread head coach is the way we need to go.

We need an up and coming coach who has their head in the current state of the game...not in the way it was.

I don't want to see a rehire unless they steal a legendary coach that is CURRENTLY coaching a successful team.

Maybe so, but it seems that a team as young as the Panthers would benefit from a veteran head coach. Not a knock on Chico because I know these things take time but, this team doesn't look very discipline. I just have a hard time believing that a hard nosed head coach would allow Steve Smith to keep doing the nonsense he's been doing as of late.

Better formula for a young team IMO:

Get a young up and coming head coach who has his head in the current game and surround him with coordinators who have some head coaching experience if you can. Find former HCs (or very long time coordinators) and let them do what their specialty is...but have a guy with some vision guiding the ship.

This obviously relies on also having a GM who shares a modern vision with the coach, but it lets you have vision and stay current while still having some hardasses on the staff that can provide discipline. Not to mention they can be there to help guide the young coach through some of the troubles of BEING a young coach.
