Our 30

Recommended Posts

Read a quote by a front office personnel member in the NFL that talked about the turnarounds of Houston and San Fran.....all of their internal metrics say they need at least 30 or so highly-graded players to make the playoffs. "You look at any playoff team, and sure, there are going to be exceptions, but you look at any playoff team and that's what you're going to find. Now, in any given year, between free agency and the draft, the best you can typically hope for is to add seven of that type of player that can help your team. More often, it's more like five. So you take seven players times five years, and that's where you get those numbers."

These are guys that are all way above average when healthy. No team has anything even close to 30 if the quality standard is that high.

I'm not understanding. So you need to have seven top rated players for five years to be a contender? I don't understand the math they are using to get thirty highly graded players.

Maybe over that time span several guys get hurt/miss time/sign elsewhere.....

Find around 7 a year for 5 years and you're almost guaranteed your thirty great roster players

    • Canales was brought in to fix Bryce. That was how he sold himself. He failed.  the panthers need a new qb, someone to coach him, and someone to build a defensive staff.  Canales has failed at developing a new qb. His big draft project XL is trending towards bust. His entire nfl resume before the panthers was one season as offensive coordinator on a stacked Bucs team, and being on the offensive staff when a 31 year old Geno smith finally put it all together. And he didn’t even pick his offensive coordinator. Assuming evero is gone, who’s he got in that phone to call? What low lvl porn addict evangelical from the bucs is ready to be Peter principled? There is nothing in his coaching history or his current performance that indicates he’s the person to move this team forward. Every other team knew this last cycle (panthers were only interview) and nothing has happened to change that perception   all people like you have is “well you can’t do it again it’s too soon but <random interval of time> will be different.  just pull off the bandage. There’s no reason to let this guy draft “his guy” except people wanting an excuse not to fire him after 2025.
    • Both Reich and Canales were saddled with trying to build and establish a viable scoring offense around Bryce Young. The best the offense looked this season and last season was with Andy Dalton who is also terrible but still better than Bryce Young. Which should be all anyone needs to know but still somehow there are weirdos here salivating over a ceiling of maybe on a really good day the 25th best QB in the league. We've already canned one entire staff over our first overall pick. You can fire everyone again to satisfy your need for vengeance and quickly come to the realization that your next hire will absolutely unequivocally be a downgrade yes man or you can blow up this QB room and then assess. If no progress next season then you can make changes and justifiably so.
    • Surprised this is the only post with this take.  This is like the Rhule kiss of death lol.
