Wins & Sh1t

Heading into the Cowgirls game, our new regime is 7-14...so let's take a look at our wins:

Saints/Brees - 1

Bucs/Josh Freeman - 2

Texans/TJ Yates - 1

Colts/Curtis Painter - 1 (nailbiter)

Redskins/John Beck - 1

Jaguars/Gabbert - 1

Every win we've had has been against teams in disarray from the coaching or QB side of things. A win against the Cowboys will at least give me confidence we can win a game against a team with a franchise QB in place and a coach not completely in shambles. Yeah, they won't have their RB but Felix Jones is a formidable backup but bottom line: this is the type of game we need to learn how to win and haven't done so yet. I really hope they start proving otherwise.

Not yet having a decisive win against a strong opponent is one of the things that shows how little we have come from day one with this new crop of players and coaches. The Titans, Browns, Colts, and hell even the Dolphins have done this to an extent already this season. We have Cam freaking Newton so let's get it going.

You could put an asterisk next to any win by any team. Nobody said beating us last year didn't count in spite of our injuries.

There are always factors that make wins of lesser importance if you want to look hard enough. All the teams mentioned by the OP are in the AFC. Nobody is a powerhouse in that conference, so perhaps those wins aren't very meaningful.

In today's NFL, a win is a win.

Its not the point

The two most important factors on a team are HC and QB. Its of course easy to point out the small faults like I mentioned the Cowboys have at running back.

And last time I checked, the Skins, Saints, and Bucs are not in the AFC

and of course a win is a win. I'm just pointing something out and now waiting for the rest of these typical responses about how this is irrelevant when bottom line our guys can't beat a good team.

I get where you're coming from, a win would make me feel nice too. But this "we've only beaten teams with backup QBs, or young QBs, or bad QBs, or interim head coaches, or ugly cheerleaders, or thunderstorms in neighboring towns, or whatever" line has been beaten to death.

All I'm saying is, the Browns beating the Bengals, for example, doesn't necessarily mean much this year. You are correct in that the Titans beat the Lions, and the Colts beat the Packers. Not sure what the point is about the Skins, Saints and Bucs, but that's not important. Any team is capable of beating any other team on any Sunday. Should we win against the Cowboys, it is not going to be anything extra special as they have already proved to be vulnerable this year.

I understand what you're saying too. In response, I'll just say there's a difference when its nitpicky vs. being either a major HC or QB problem.

Didn't mean to be redundant but the Cowgirls present us a fine opportunity to at least throw this idea out the window that you've said has been beaten to death.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I'm just saying a win will wipe this notion away that is mentioned ad nauseum.

This is the old "quality wins" argument. Playoff teams get quality wins against tough opponents.

Another way to look at the original post.

Bucs 4-12

Saints 1-4

Texans 10-6 (best win so far!)

Colts 2-14

Redskins 5-11

Jaguars 5-11

You could also look at the bad teams to which we have lost.

Beating Dallas would be a good win.

Also big games against the bears, Broncos, Falcons, Chargers. Get at least 2-3 of those and we build some momentum for 2013??

Oh God I'm talking about 2013 :(

Sure, a win is a win. But we aren't beating playoff contenders, except for Houston maybe. If we can't beat good teams in the regular season, how are we going to be them in the playoffs? Point is, even good teams will have an off-week. We just seem to have more than most.
