Denver Broncos are about to prove that John Fox can be a successful head coach when he works with a competent organization.

Shouldn't that read when given one is the greatest QBs in NFL history?

Pretty sure Denver wasn't known for there competency prior to this year

They have had a few off years, just like every other NFL team, but have been very successful compared to the Panthers. So Peyton or no, I would consider them a competent organization.

How many years did fans in Carolina say we needed a better QB / more imaginative offense? Things never changed even when our OCs did.

Broncos quickly recognized not only Fox's strengths, but also his weaknesses and have created a winning formula in Denver by bringing in the offensive talent needed to balance Fox's defensive strengths.

John Elway has only been in place since Jan 2011. Indications are good that he has figured out how to utilize Fox's talents more effectively in a year, than Carolina management did given 9 years.

and in a historically horrible division.

and right now he's sitting where he essentially was last year. sitting right at .500 as part of that horrible division with one of the best QBs to ever play the game.

what i'm more interested in is this...where do they go from here? not just the rest of the season, but what exactly are they going to do next year and the years after that? anyone expecting peyton to keep on playing? what is their plan? what QB are they grooming? how big is that window of opportunity for that team? how long is it going to be open?

seems like he's doing the exact same thing there he was here. being just barely good enough to get by for the most part with a team that he doesn't have to waste any time developing.

with the panthers, this is a young team with a very young QB who can be one of the best the league has ever seen. the window of opportunity is a long way from closing in fact it's just beginning to open. this team isn't going to stay bad for much longer.

i expect fox to do what he did here...peak early and then fizzle out all though i doubt his peaking there will be an appearance in a superbowl.

i think it's acceptable for people to be questioning whether or not rivera was the right call...but missing the "good old days" of an average coach? meh...that's just got apathetic all over it. if you're going to wish for a better coach than the one we have, why not shoot for one that isn't a lifetime .500 coach? quit looking backward and try looking forward.

I don't think anyone thinking clearly wishes we still had Fox. His time here was done.

What I don't get is how some want to put down the Broncos' organization when they have performed better than ours, and when they had the balls to make a major change in their franchise in spite of winning a playoff game last year.

There's not a doubt in my mind that if our people were running the Broncos, they would still be trotting out The Golden Calf of Bristol on a weekly basis.

if the broncos were run fox's way they'd be starting either The Golden Calf of Bristol or orton this season.

manning coming in was an elway thing. high priced FA quarterbacks are not fox's style.

yeah, they're a smart, well-run organization. the fact that they don't let fox micro manage their games or give him a ton of power in personnel decisions reflects that.

i vote orton. The Golden Calf of Bristol would never had seen starting time unless fox was forced.

yeah neckbeard seems like a fox guy through and through. journeyman veteran who can get the job done if called on but goes hot/cold.

the biggest splash we ever made at quarterback in free agency during the fox years was bringing in david carr. i'm sure you remember but for those who weren't here in 2007, yes, that was considered a very good signing at the time.

i think the reason he was released from the broncos was the same reason that jake was...they new fox would stick with safe.

you're right in that the broncos are handling fox better in taking personnel decisions out of his hands. i've got a feeling that elway is really the one running the show and fox is more or less just a figurehead...kind of like how their OC has been a figurehead since he got there under mcdaniels.

Not pining for Fox. The Panthers have proven they don't know how to effectively utilize his talents.

The post was about how well organizations recognize the talents of their employees and set them up for success or failure.

I think Fox and Rivera could both be very successful as head coaches... in the right environment.

It is the same idea when Mushin and Peppers decided to go to Chicago for less money. I think they were looking for an organization where their talents would be better utilized.

If there are not a drastic changes in our upper management within the next year, I fully anticipate Newton will be doing everything in his power to leave the Panthers organization also.

Broncos had a tough early season schedule. It has just gotten amazingly easier with the Ravens being the only good team left. Laugh about the Broncos being 3-3, but chances are they are going to be 10-6 or 11-5. Plus they didn't have the all-time great QB when they won a playoff game last year with The Golden Calf of Bristol.

Fox is a dud. He was a dud in Charlotte and he will be a dud in Denver. He's a .500 coach and that's all he will ever be. He has a legendary quarterback that was gifted to him and plays in the weakest conference in the league so he will win a few games but he ain't going anywhere on his coaching prowess.
