The Last Time Cam Newton Went 14-0...

And won a championship was just two short years ago. Looking around here and seeing how negative, pessimistic, and straight up defeated most of you are acting is quite frankly disgusting. It would do you well to remember the how Cam Newton once got hot, and couldn't lose for months on end. So to recap:

#22 Auburn - 52

Arkansas State - 26

Auburn's offense shined despite very basic playcalling. New quarterback Cam Newton set a school record for quarterbacks running the ball with 171 yards on the ground, as well as 186 yards passing, while completing 9 of 14 passes. 1-0

#21 Auburn - 17

Mississippi State - 14

Cameron Newton followed up his impressive debut by going 11/19 for 138 yards and 2 passing TD's. He also showed off his running ability once again by gaining 70 yards on the ground on 18 carries. Newton was Auburn's leading rusher for the second straight week. 2-0

#16 Auburn - 27

Clemson - 24

Cameron Newton bounced back after a horrible first half and finished the night 7/14 for 203 yards with 2 TD's and 2 INT's. 3-0

#17 Auburn - 35

#15 South Carolina - 27

Cameron Newton proved once again just how special a player he is by accounting for all five Auburn TD's. Newton threw for 2 and ran for the other 3 while accounting for 334 yards of total offense. 4-0

#10 Auburn - 52

Louisiana-Monroe - 3

Unlike the previous four games, Newton had no rushing attempts except for a 4-yard loss on a quarterback sack, but he completed 14 of 19 passes for 249 yards. 5-0

#8 Auburn - 37

Kentucky - 34

The Tigers offensive attack was once again led by quarterback Cameron Newton, who scored four touchdowns in the first half to lead Auburn to a 31–17 halftime lead. Newton contributed 408 yards of offense to the Tigers' attack. He rushed for 198 yards on 28 carries, and completed 13 of 21 passing attempts for 210 yards. 6-0

#7 Auburn - 65

#12 Arkansas - 43

The Tigers were once again led on offense by quarterback Cameron Newton, who rushed for 188 yards and completed 10 of 14 passes for 140 yards. 7-0

#4 Auburn - 24

#6 LSU - 17

Cameron Newton scored two touchdowns and rushed for 217 yards and two touchdowns. Newton's 217 rushing yards enabled him to eclipse the SEC record for most rushing yards by a quarterback. 8-0

#1 Auburn - 51

Ole Miss - 31

Cam Newton was held to only 45 rushing yards on 11 attempts, but he threw for 209 yards and caught a 20-yard touchdown pass. 9-0

#2 Auburn - 62

Chattanooga - 24

Quarterback Cam Newton passed for a career-best 317 yards and threw four touchdown passes. 10-0

#2 Auburn - 49

Georgia - 31

Auburn fought back to tie the game at 21–21 on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Cam Newton to tight end Phillip Lutzenkirchen with 51 seconds remaining in the first half. As it had been throughout much of the season, the Auburn offense was led by quarterback Cam Newton. He passed for 148 yards and rushed for 151 yards. 11-0

#2 Auburn - 28

#8 Alabama - 27

Quarterback Cam Newton threw for three touchdown passes and rushed for another touchdown in the biggest comeback in Auburn football history. 12-0

SEC Championship Game

#1 Auburn - 56

#18 South Carolina - 17

As it had been through the previous twelve games of the season, the Auburn offense was led by quarterback Cam Newton, who threw for a career-best 335 yards. Newton threw four touchdown passes and ran for two more touchdowns. 13-0

National Championship Game

#1 Auburn - 22

#2 oregon - 19

As much as everyone talked about Auburn QB Cam Newton, the title game came down to a battle in the trenches. 14-0

Fourteen wins in a row got Cam a championship two years ago, and it will get him one this year with eleven games left in the season, the divisional round of the playoffs, the NFC Championship game, and then the Superbowl. Cam has done it before, and he can do it again. It doesn't matter that we are 1-4. It doesn't matter what's happened in the past. All the matters is where we go from here, and the games we win in the future. As far as I am, and the team should be, concerned the Dallas game is week 1.

Now I've heard in passing that some current Panthers sometimes lurk on these forums. If you are 1 of the 53 reading this right now, I implore you to talk about this, please. Bring it up in the locker room. Rally around it, and around Cam. Plant that seed of hope that your quarterback has led a team to a tremendous winning streak before, and can do it again. What this team needs now more than anything is hope in the face of the despair of a 1-4 start.

Even if you are on the practice squad, or a coach, or a writer for Panthers.com, or a friend of any of the above, please, mention this. Spread the word. Let the prospect of going 14-0 infect the team like a virus. We're the Carolina Huddle after all, goddammit. If we can't get the word out to the team, to remind them just what kind of a special talent we have at QB, then we fail as a fan community.

And to you Huddlers, proclaiming sincerely that the season is over, calling for changes in management and coaching, and already talking about the draft, allow me to remind you, as long as we have Cam Newton, anything is possible.

I appreciate your attitude, but 14-0 in college is a whole lot easier than 14-0 in the NFL...

On the bright side, the brutal stretch of our schedule is over. Tough games for the rest of the year include the Eagles, Falcons and Bears. A couple other teams that could give us problems are the Cowboys and Broncos. *IF* everyone in the organization can pull their poo together, from HC down, and play like we played against ATL for the rest of the year anything is possible.
