My fantasy team is now where my mouth is

I went all in and traded Mojo for Cam and Smitty. I still believe in Cam, and if Cam remembers that he is Cam friggin' Newton, then Smitty won't have to make anyone remember that he is Steve friggin' Smith.

If nothing else, it's gonna make my Sundays all the more meaningful. Keep the faith, people. Cam is coming back from the BYE with a vengence.

Perhaps you're right. It's definitely a gamble. Cam has not played up to his potential, point blank. But the ability is still there. I don't believe in sophomore slumps, per se, and I don't think that defenses have magically learned how to stop Cam and this Panthers offense. I really don't think it's possible if Cam plays up to his ability. It's all on Cam. All the film study in the world is not gonna help defensive coordinators stop Cam. Cam stops himself. If you look at the games this year, that has been what's happened. The reads, the footwork, and holding on to the ball too long are all things that can be fixed. Now Cam may never throw with pin-point accuracy, but that is not, nor has been, his biggest problem. He has to learn to have fun again, be patient, and take what the defense gives him. My advice to Cam:

No need to force the ball down up field, check down to the open man which will more than likely be Olsen. Smitty is gonna get open at some point. When he does, let it fly (just like your very first game when he was wide open). By checking down and not having Smitty tunnel vision, you help him to get open (as well as LaFell and everyone else). Moreover, we want you in the pocket, but don't be afraid to take the ball and chain off. The pocket is not quicksand. One of your greatest abilities is to run. When you have some open field, don't be afraid to do what you do. Make them pay, either way, when they rush. Your feet, the check down, and throwing the ball away to the sidelines are your best friends, but don't forget your mechanics amidst all the pressure.

BTW, I already had Olsen, so I got in deep with Cam and Smitty. I already have McCoy and T-Rich (I took a chance on Schaub late, which was how I was able to get McCoy, MJD and T-Rich), so I thought that MJD was expendable. Schaub and the Houston running game, as well as a lack of a true WR1 has been killing me, so Cam and Smitty seemed like the natural gamble for me.

Here's to Jahvid Best coming back (picked him up last week).
