Andy Reid or Norv Turner.. Which would you pick?

I agree.

The only thing I can figure is it's a combo of a few things.

Cam has regress a bit, and is not comfortable with them opening the playbook more.

SS has lost some of the wheels, and cannot create separation down field. (a must in that O)

The line outside of Gross and Kalil is made up of rooks or below average players and cannot defend the 5 and 7 step drops.

Those are the things that will kill coryell's/Turners O.

or chud trying to create his own thing and abandoning the coryell.

That could be it, but I don't think so.

It's too easy to stick with what you know.

Hence Cam operating the read-option much of the time.

Chud has us operating out of shotgun over 75% of the plays this year, up 15 to 20% from last year. Maybe half the time we are in the shotgun, the back is lined up slightly ahead of the QB. When we do that, it is always a pass. If I know it, opposing defenses know it. So it isn't just the read option that's the problem.

Cam showed last year, and in limited opportunities this year, that he can operate effectively from under center. The backs run just as well out of an I formation as from the read option. Our offensive numbers this year show that the change has certainly not been a positive one. So why keep doing it?

I think Chud saw what we did to Tampa last year and thought he found a magic formula. That is the kind of offense he is running this year. But in reality, Tampa just sucked, so they were in no way an accurate indicator of what worked and what didn't.

Yes, we have had our problems with blocking and all around execution as well, but play calling seems to be a huge part of the problem.

I am not disagreeing with you at all. I just don't think that it's Chud as much as it is our players.

Chud knows that this O is not nearly as good as last season, there is no way that he can't.

I just think that it's the mixture of D coordinators figuring out how to slow down our downfield attack, and Cam not being as comfortable this season.

Put the best CB on Smith with Safety help over the top. (SS does look a bit slower this season so this helps them)

Single cover Lafell.

Keep Olsen in short patterns that are not Cam's strong suit.

Create a pass rush because our O Line is not that talented, and are young.

That O requires the QB to throw long down the field to a spot, and the WR has to be there and win at jump balls.

Our downfield threat is 5'9, and he is the only player that can stretch the field right now it seems.

Cam may not trust our WR's.

it takes how many years to "get" a WCO?

sorry....no thanks. that offense is waaaaaaaaayyyy too different from what they are doing. i'd rather us not go through an extra 3+ years rebuilding while we wait for our QB and WRs to get the hang of it.

i don't think people realize what would have to change for reid to come here.

I think if we go in a new direction at HC we should go with a experienced ex HC that could contribute right away as opposed with rolling the dice on yet another coordinator. It seemed to work wonders for Denver picking up Fox after a 2-14 season here in Carolina. Both the Chargers and Eagles are playing pretty good at the moment, but if one them collapses and end up with yet another "close but no cigar" seasons as it relates to making the playoffs, I could see one if not both of these guys avaliable for a new HC gig next year. If so, who would you guys choose between the two?

Im torn really.. A part of me sees Norv Turner as a safer and overall more consistent (yet underachieving) prospect but Andy Reid has more name recognition and has experience with QBs that fit Cam's skill set more in Mcnabb and Vick (yes I realize they are all black QBs so no I do not mean skin color when I say "skill set", they just all 3 happen to really have similar skill sets). Nonetheless Im cnonfident we would see immediate improvement with either coach. Maybe not the playoffs first go around but I could see first season 8-8 and the next season a legitimate playoff push.

No way JR would hire a good experienced HC like Reid or Turner,it would make to much sense. :)

On a serious note.....If Rivera proves he's not the answer as the HC,i'd like to see the Panthers hire a top colledge HC,one that would bring fire and some kick-A$$ atitude to the team.
