Because the owner has put his trust in a man he believes is capable of doing that, but isn't.

When you add up all the different ways that this Rivera coached team has lost in his two seasons it becomes clear that what this team lacks more than anything is a staff that 1) can accurately anticipate what the other team is going to do and 2) can coach his players to execute a game plan that takes advantage of the opponent's weaknesses.

It seems like the best we get out of Rivera is a promise to return to fundamentals while sticking with failed strategies (like the read option). They don't make good adjustments during the game and clock management is atrocious. If you don't know how to coach on game day, you can't be a successful coach in this league. Rivera is not a good manager and not a good strategist. You need at least one of these skills to be successful. You need both to win the Super Bowl.

People and even a lot of the media seems to think or believe that Rivera is a much better coach than his record. Dno but that's the case.

Well, he has 21 games under his belt.....only 3 of which we didn't have a shot at winning late.

John Fox never went below 7-9 until his lame duck year when JR made up his mind to change course before the season. If Rivera doesn't get his act together soon he's about to have two straight seasons of less than 7-9. I know JR is stubborn but I just don't see him tolerating a season where we regress.

For the first time in this franchise's history we have a superstar QB. I think even JR is smart enough to realize that if he continues to ride a sinking ship with Rivera that the chances he keeps that superstar QB drop every year.

I mean sure, we as fans are already angry as hell and calling for a top/down regime change. But many in the media are still saying "lets wait and see" "lets see how Hurney's master plan works out." But will 1-5 FINALLY be the tipping point where we start hearing things like "Hurney on the hot seat" or "Rivera has lost locker room." Or "Jerry Richardson and Bill Cowher closing in on contract." Oh wait, nvm on that last one, this is Jerry Richardson we are talking about. But seriously, does 1-5 pretty much get us back to square 1 in 2010 where we have a lame duck coaching staff and a huge sea change is on the horizon?

Doubtful anything changes. Richardson seems allergic to change, especially during the season. Besides, I don't recall Hurney ever being on the hot seat here. Not like an extra 4-5 losses early in the season would change that. Also don't see Richardson ever being interested in hiring Bill Cowher, even if Cowher were to express interest in coaching again.
