Emotional Leader?

It comes down to this. Emotional leadership isn't something you can turn on or turn off. It is simply something you have or you don't. Luke is much more of a lead by example kind of guy. Godfrey certainly fits the bill, but he needs to not be jumping around after making a tackle on a big play. Instead, if it wasn't his fault, he should be ripping somebody. If it was his fault and he saved his own ass, he should just STFU and go back to the huddle and keep the guys inspired vocally.

Beason would be the man, but he reverted to being a high school LB this season and hasn't been 100%.

it should be cam.

there is no one on the team and few in the league who could pull a team with his persona the way he does.

he is an emotional leader, but instead of firing people up as he should and is able to do, he is in need of it himself.

he just has to get a grip and get his mind where it was when he was at blinn and auburn. he made those teams better than what they were. he can do that with the panthers.

i think that will happen at some point, but until it does we are going to be stuck with being underwhelming and underachieving.

I believe you have nailed it with this one. I truly believe Cam has lost that innocence of the game. Whatever it is, he is no longer having fun.

The way I see it, Cam is pressing too hard. It has made him into a different kind of football player. And I blame it on circumstances.

The loss of Shockey is huge. He was a security blanket for Cam. Expectations were through the roof. No matter how you prepare, expectations for a player like Cam are rarely met. Play calling has been an issue all season, and I honestly believe Chud is outsmarting his QB. Presonal pressure has to be the biggest obstacle for Cam. He feels he has to be the best, and right now, that ain't happening.

That is only my limited knowledge, and speculation, of Cam and his situation. But that is probably only the tip of the iceberg of weight on a 23 year QB's shoulders.

When he can both relax and enjoy the game again. He will be just fine. Or fine for what he is going to be. Which is unlimited.

tl,dr version. The bye came at a perfect time. Giving Cam a chance to regroup. Hopefully get back to having fun. Oh, and maybe Chud will take the week to get back to basics.
