No. You trade down and build a better team around him like the Rams did with Bradford. Taking Geno would be completely idiotic to do and when we have a aging LT, and WR. We do not have a secondary nor a interior d-line. If we take Geno with the number 1 pick then this team is ruined for another decade.

Smart GMs understand that stockpiling picks is the smartest way to approach the draft. The draft is a crapshoot and no one can say with certainty who will pan out and who will bust. Therefore, in order to mitigate risk, you have to increase the number of picks you have. It's just simple math. Our GM has the opposite philosophy. He gets fixated on someone and gives away future picks because he is certain he is going to hit a homerun. Our GM is stupid. You must acquire as many picks as possible if you want to improve your odds of building through the draft. Also, having more picks lessens the blow of any busts that you inevitably draft.

Taking Geno Smith would be beyond idiotic.

Cam has all the physical tools he needs. He would still be making mistakes this year no matter what but they wouldn't be so damn glaring / deadly if he had an even remotely competent coaching staff supporting him.
