lol so it's "nuthugging" to think that your contingency plan for cam which involves literally drafting a backup with the top pick overall makes no sense from a practical or value standpoint.

what a lame fallback argument. really if your plan works as it's supposed to we would have spent the top overall pick on a guy to ride the bench. that would be far and away the stupidest thing hurney had ever done and that's a tall fuging order.

you assume carolina has the top overall pick. i don't.

No I wouldn't have started this thread if it wasn't wvu qb. But I ludicruis as this thread is. I find the way this whole board has thrown away the season. The team is 1-4 with 2 close loses. Talk about irrational. 1 against the defending sb champs the other against a undefeated team which they should have won.

Yes the correct answer would be to trade the pic. But with everyone acting like the season is doomed. It is pretty stupid to even think we will have option to do that.

It is going to be funny seeing a lot of people on this board back pedal. Panthers are going to win a lot of games this year and will come close to the playoffs. I'm even willing to say 9-7 record on the low end.

Tired of talking Cam.

We hitched our wagon to him a couple years ago, we will have to live with it for awhile, good or bad.

On the draft, I would hope our team would someday take the trek of building from the lines out. If there is a great tackle or a great WR, and we have needs for both, we take the tackle, This is our best hope for consistant success.

Can I quote you on this in the future?

Also, I corrected the bolded. We got thrashed by the defending SB champs

If Atlanta was the only game to base a prediction on, I would agree with your assessment.

The other games this year suggest we are not well prepared to compete in this league.

Seattle was a great opportunity to turn our season around and our offense was abysmal, our defense scored the majority of our points.

We may have an end of season flourish of wins to make 2012 look better in the record books (a time tested Panther tradition), but the Panthers are rapidly running out of time to be relevant in any way.

even with the addition cam newton and despite the most publicity that this organization has ever seen...the panthers haven't been relevant since 2008.

I am fully confident that if the Panthers drop the read option, we'll begin to see the Cam of last year. If the Panthers line him up under center and allow our stable of VERY GOOD (and highly paid) running backs to contribute to the games, we could go undefeated the rest of the season.

Every one is so quick to bash Cam, but what have our RBs done this year? Are Stewart, Williams and Tolbert suddenly all having sophomore slumps at the same time? Has Smitty finally lost that step we all said he did after 2010? Let the men play man football, and leave the college gimmicks to the kids. If Rivera doesn't get this under control, he's gonna lose this team and his job very soon.

Read option in the NFL? Are you serious? There's a reason no one else does it. Well actually, there are a number of reasons no one else does it. But because we have such a talented QB, Chud thinks he can break the barrier. Ok, so it didn't work. Adjust and move on. Don't keep running head first into that brick wall. Your head will crack before it does.

I think this thread is very relevant. Based on what I've seen of him on the field and off, I don't think he is the long term solution for the Panthers. Call it a gut feeling-- but seeing how he acts I think his attitude and maturity will be his undoing-- something is just not right there.

“I know he hasn’t been responsive in some of his interviews [after losses] but he has been like that since he was seven years old,” said Cecil Newton

How long do you think it will take him to mature into a mature NFL quarterback? Will we wait for a 7 year old to turn 21?

And since this is a football message board, don't get your panties too wadded up about people who don't agree with you. Now, it's chilly outside, so I have to get to Belk and purchase a Cam Newton plaid wool sweater vest.

Please.
