who in the huddle is rooting for mike vick?

I'm not rooting for him. Why should I?

I'm all for second chances though if you've completed the punishment set forth by the judicial system. Just not a second chance at the privelage of the big dollars the NFL provides.

I heard a good point made on Collin Cowherd today. If Mike Vick did these violent acts (slamming dogs on the ground until they died, strangling dogs, etc.) to better himself financially or to help family etc., then i can see an argument to root for him. However, he murdered dogs for the pure enjoyment and rush of it. He didn't need the money! That is a sick mo fo and he's not getting an ounce of support from me.

How many second chances does he need?

Caught with paraphernalia in an airport...you or I would be in jail. Not Vick.

Sued for giving a woman herpes...you or I would be paying that woman. Not Vick.

Caught fighting dogs, lies about it to his owner and the commissioner...you or I would never work in that field again. ?????

When I was in high school, the sheriff of the county had a dog fighting ring right out in the open in his back yard with matches every Sunday. It has been prevalent in the South for a long time. It sickened me, but that didn't make it less prevalent...

As much as I'd hate to see it, Vick will get back in the NFL.

Now the real question is:

Will his ego be to big to take a backup position for vet min. or take a specialist position such as KR or PR at league min.?

And if he takes a backup QB position at league min with incentives, and he doesn't crack the first string, how long will it be before he turns into an ass again because he can't get his way?

He's got some creditors to pay.

And this is another area I have a problem with. Letting him back in the league, bankrupt, and a known gambler.

There is a reason gamblers are kicked out of pro sports, but most of you pulling for Vick haven't heard of the black socks.

Bash me if you want;

I was/am one of the biggest Vick haters out there, when he was sentenced I was wishing his sentence would be longer.

But if he were to come to Carolina, I would root for him. The panthers would be a Team that he should be looking at.

His image is as low as it gets right now, he needs to do whatever he can to clean it up (his people have already been talking with the humane society who has agreed to work with him). If he goes to a team like Dallas or Oakland, his image will not change with the circus they run.

JR is one of the most respect men & owners in the nfl. He doesn't deal with crap and has a clean team (gets rid of anybody who could be a cancer) Vick should have a talk with JR. JR could surround him with some of our players like moose, hoover, and smith to keep an eye on him and take him in to try to keep him from steering back towards another wrong path.

Jake is our QB, he looks good some days but bad some. If vick still has some QB skills, bring him in to push jake.

Honestly I admit that I hated on the guy purely because of the uniform he was wearing and disliked his amazing ability to slip out our clutches in vital and heated games.

Truthfully, like him or not he is one of the most talented players in the NFL and deserved most of the accolades. That said, the notion of such a weapon behind our line with our running backs and our receivers is quite intriguing.

Even if it was possible the dirty birds would never allow that to happen.

it's ILLEGAL! and its CRUEL...torturing an animal for fun isn't bad? you seriously don't see that as a problem?

i really don't bc number 1 it doesn't involve DaCityKats.it is a huge culture trust me i bet over half of dog kettles are ran just for that.and i know it's illegal so you can stop saying that.55 you missed the whole point of the cock fighting, what is accepted in some cultures is not in others.vick would have never been caught if his cousin didn't rat him out and i thank him for that bc i would rather see matt overrated ryan than the panther killer vick.

I didn't miss anything. Saying that something is okay because it accepted in some cultures misses the point that we are not in those cultures, we are here. If you want to cockfight go to Mexico, if they want to be sadistic so be it. There are alot of illegal activities supported by certain cultures which continue here and elsewhere. Doesn't justify it or make it any less inhumane. That is a very pedestrian argument.

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone!. Chicago Bear fan here with a question. Is the Panthers personnel currently able to run a wildcat or variations of the scheme?

If so, Vick's a fit there. He needs a smaller market team, and the Panthers are fairly close to his home.

Wildcat offense might be Michael Vick's ticket back to NFL

NFL's latest fad formation perfect to ease his transition

Dan Pompei | On the NFL

May 24, 2009

When Michael Vick cashes the first paycheck from his NFL comeback, perhaps he should offer a percentage to Dan Henning and David Lee.

The Dolphins assistants have been credited with the latest offensive mini-craze in the NFL: the Wildcat.

And the Wildcat is Vick's ticket back into the league.

The Tribune spoke with four front-office executives and two offensive coordinators about Vick, who was released from prison last week. Each said Vick was not an option for his team. But they agreed Vick could fill a role with another team as a "package player" in the Wildcat.

With his combination of speed, passing skill and athleticism, Vick would be the ultimate Wildcat weapon. An NFC offensive coordinator pointed out Vick is probably a better passing threat than any of the players who ran the scheme last year, and every bit the runner.

The Falcons used Vick in a package that was similar to the Wildcat starting in 2006. It didn't get as much notoriety only because the Falcons didn't give it a cute nickname, and it was perceived as an offense that was unique to Vick.

"The Wildcat offense will guarantee him an opportunity because he can come in and contribute quickly in a specific package without a lot of learning," one NFC general manager said.

As a personnel director pointed out, Vick probably will have no off-season to learn a complicated playbook. He might not be reinstated by the league until August. And then he could face a suspension at the start of the regular season. So he really isn't a viable candidate to be a starting quarterback.

Even as talented as Vick is, or was, he should not be expected to immediately pick up where he left off. He has not played in a game that counted since December 2006, so there is concern about his skill level, his conditioning and his timing.

"Two years away from it, and he might not be the same athlete," the general manager said. "If he loses 10 percent, he'll still be an above-average athlete. But he won't be a deluxe athlete."

The aging process might be cruel to the soon-to-be 29-year-old because his game is so dependent on speed and quickness. "His best asset is his legs," said an NFC West front-office man. "If he loses that, he loses what he is. His problem as a passer always has been accuracy. Either you have it or you don't, and he doesn't. He's not accurate. So he needs to have that dimension of running the ball."

At the very least, Vick should be given a grace period in which he can re-acclimate to the game.

"No matter how gifted you are, you can't just stroll off the street after two years away and get back to where you were," a second general manager from an NFC team said. "It could take a while."

The Wildcat could ease Vick back in the game. He wouldn't be under the same kind of scrutiny as he would be as a starting quarterback.

"I think you think about him as a package guy," said the NFC offensive coordinator. "Maybe he's not even listed as a quarterback.
