NEWS FLASH: We're not going to win the SB this year, welcome back to reality!

Don't think anyone expected a great team this year. What we did expect was a team that would be, at the very least, better than the team fielded last season. This team is not better and hasn't shown us any signs of getting better. Very disappointing considering all of the talent on the roster.

I disagree. I am very pessemistic when it coems to this team, and I pray for the day I am wrong. I can only hope for the day people can call me wrong.

Pessmestic people of the panthers are humiliated every Sunday by being right. No need to point them out.

Also, optimisim is only harder for certain teams...for good reason.

I am sorry but I keep hearing this 4 year building project and its BS IMO. Why do other teams need less time and how do you rebuild with a full cap? When you give out contracts and lock up players like stewy, beason and dwill and then get a franchise qb, how is that a project? I don't think we are a project at all...

also when we were 2-14 everyone was saying we were not a 2-14 team, maybe I am the only one that still believed that, contributing to my pessemestic outlook

Should we wait until we've lost at least 10 games before we draw this conclusion?

Again, not being cynical, just realistic, but What have you seen in this team that has given you any degree of hope that they will get better. Blind Optimism doesnt work.

They had arguably the best team in the league up against the ropes until the last seconds of the game.

The defense was able to hold the leading rusher in the league at the time to 85 yards

Our rookie first round draft pick is showing he can be an effective MLB

We found a great prospect in Frank Alexander

We still have Cam Newton who is a dynamic player when he's on top of his game.

Our rookie LG is improving

Thomas Davis has stayed healthy

It's bad, but it's not the end of the world. They will not be a contender this year, it does not mean they can't improve over the course of the season.

But in the meantime you take shelter in pessimism because it helps to take some of the sting out of the disappointment we're all feeling right now... I get it.

So they're telling you this is a 4 year project and you're calling BS on that project before we're even half way through it?

I think it's more realistic to realize that it's too early in this process to draw any conclusions.

Was it realistic to assume that a 6-10 team in a tough division with a 2nd year QB could suddenly transform into a SB contender?

It was Rrealistic enough for Ryan to take out of full page ad proclaiming it.

I am very disappointed.

We all are.

We put a lot more hope in a 23 year old than we should of....he is a young man, not God of football QBs...I quess afer Brian St. Pierre and Jimmy Clausen, it was nice to a guy who looked the part under center.

As for what to feel good about:

1. Luke

2. special teams has improved immensely

3. the team has not quit despite what I believe to be lack of leadership and not always great talent.

4. Newton will get better or he won't. It's better we find out now and if he won't, next. But, in the meantime, he is 23 years old, athletically gifted and not polished. That was known when he was drafted. Best we can do is support him.

Who knows...Jerry fired his sons, perhaps as he gets close to 80, he'll deep 6 Hurney.

Take a deep breath... it sucks to be 1-4 but we have 11 more games to play and a lot can happen over the course of 11 games, especially with a young and developing team.

NEWS FLASH: We're not going to win the SB this year, welcome back to reality!

The reality is that we were a 2-14 team in 2010 and we're in the 2nd year of rebuilding from that. At the moment, our fortunes rest on a lot of young players who are still trying to figure things out, most especially Cam, so back off and give the kid a little room to grow.

Yes he was the ROY, but year 2 is almost always the most difficult year in a QB's career. Some of us were expecting him to be Aaron Rodgers this year and that was just silly.

I admit that I got caught up in some of the hype myself... we're not used to having such a high profile player. Cam doesn't suck, he's not a bust, he's just come back down to earth a little bit now that teams have seen what we do - so the next step is for us to adapt to that and we're in the process of doing that - but with a new coaching staff and a developing young team, there are a lot of moving parts.

Anyhow, I could go on and on - but the bottom line is this: Fan-up, take a deep breath and hang in there... better days are coming soon.

Very well said. Thank you for this. I agree.
