No sense of urgency in Rivera's voice...

Rivera's coaching style fits well with an older team. A team that knows their job and knows what is expected of them. Rivera would probably do well with a team with some age.

The problem is, he doesn't have that here. He has a ton of youth and a team that needs direction and fire. Rivera is learning on the job and unfortunately his players can't follow a coach who doesn't know the right direction to start with

ugh, rivera's post games .... i have to double check and make sure its not last weeks interview, or the week before, or the week before, or the week before, or the week before, or the week before.

Going by voices, it sounded like Joe Person asked him if he ever got tired of saying the same thing every week. He said When he gets tired, he will no longer be a coach or something like that. I was like wha??? If you have to say the same poo, that means the guys are making the same mistakes and you're a shitty coach anyway.

Listening to him after the game, I really don't know if he knows his team is 1-4.

Might explain how this team plays with no sense of urgency.

could it be that now we understand why he hasn't ever been awarded a HC job till Richardson gave him one even though he has had many interviews?

I think Hurney awarding players with all these high priced deals without them actually accomplishing anything yet has backfired and this team is lackadasical, A organization like the Patriots who will not overpay for anyone and the players know one of their foot is always out the door if they don't perform play like they they have something to play for.

Coaches don't usually get the axe during the season, and JR wouldn't do that in the first place. So the question is, does JR and Hurney give Rivera a thirs year?

Of course JR will Bully. He is 'loyal' to "his guys", no matter how badly it hurts the team. (see 'Marty Hurney' for living breathing example of this)

It sucks to see the Falcons with a really good HC & that coach getting the most from his team.

Why should he? JR doesn't direct the organization with a sense of urgency. If the owner was chewing you out every week, you'd have a little more passion. This guy has none.

I'm bad about quoting a post without reading all the other responses. You guys get it though. It's a culture of, "Oh well..."

Other teams in the league don't put up with performances like we see every week. You screw up on a few plays, you get pulled. If you don't redeem yourself, you're gone.

The players respond and they get better. New England has Danny Woodhead, Wes Welker, Julian Edelman, and a 6th round draft pick that is an elite quarterback. It's a bunch of no names that were forced to improve and they're great.

Have you seen Belichick in the locker room after a win? They don't celebrate. They expect to win. Belichick literally says, "Good job guys. Here is what we need to focus on this week."

You're onto something. I honestly think this franchise will reek of mediocrity until JR is no longer the owner.
