Why the HELL isin't Joe out there?

He messed up one fuging night. And you take him out? Bench Captain then, bench James Anderson, bench hardy bench number 43 who I hate so much now. Unacceptable!

Joe sucked at returning duties, even when he didn't fumble. Not that Pilares did any better on the opening kickoff.

FUMBLE-ITIS: Rookie returner Joe Adams hasn’t been active since losing two fumbles against the Giants on Sept. 20. And it doesn’t sound like the Panthers are in a hurry to get Adams in a game.

The Panthers haven’t had any long runbacks from kick returner Kealoha Pilares or Munnerlyn, who has been returning punts. But neither has fumbled.

“You’ve got to catch the ball first,” Rivera said. “Early on (Adams) was trying to make moves before he had the ball, and I think that created some of the problems.

“He’s got to learn to be patient, make the catch and then make your move. And he’ll learn that,” Rivera added. “He’s an explosive, dynamic young man. He’s a home run hitter, and you’ve got to get those kinds of guys out there.”

Adams said he’s worked on keeping his hands higher when fielding kicks, while trying to maintain a positive outlook. “It’s frustrating not being out there. But I can’t control it. It’s for the coaches to say.”

Another Hurney mistake. Sure its only his first season... BUT usually when a team drafts a guy to at least start as a return specialist they usually ending up doing that, and well before transitioning to full time WR or CB or whatever other position he also did in college.

Why did they draft him if they weren't going to play him no matter what? You can fix those mechanical problems like looking the ball in your hands, but as things stand right now, he's wasting away on the bench. What a waste! We could have just drafted Alexander in the fourth with our regular pick, instead of trading away another 3rd for this up coming draft.

I hope the next GM knows not to trade away draft picks.

They are working hard with him in practice to get out of the habit off taking his eyes off the ball just before he catches it. Its just a matter of a lot of repetition. But for now Captain id doing fine returning punts. I think somebody else needs to return kickoffs though. I'm sick of Pilares returning it from deep in the endzone, not making any moves and just running straight and getting tackled at the 15. I mean that shouldn't be acceptable.

Yes, and since our ST have been mediocre for so long......................

I'm happy with an average return and.......... possession

PS.........if he ever gets it back together, I would gladly welcome him back. (not a hater)

This is how I feel as well. When he gets back he may just be ready to do the job without the mistakes. He is exciting in both a positive and negative way.

Wasn't a mistake. It was a gamble. So far that gamble has not worked out.

They drafted him because he is an exciting return man. Something every team, almost, looks for.

He is wasting away because he cannot hang on to the ball. No one to blame but himself. He was worth the gamble as a 4th rounder. We are not paying him much so him not playing is not costing us much.

He was exciting. So the pick was worth a 4th. Alexander has played well, so he would be worth the 3rd. Quit crying over such small details. Every GM tries to hit a homerun in the later rounds. We are not the only team that gambles.

As I read all your replies I keep thinking that is why the Panthers are having another horrible season. Of course its another Hurney mistake. Call it a gamble fine and that is again why its another mistake. Hurney made waaay to many gambles that never paid off. And the plan was to upgrade the return game because it had sucked for so many years and Adams was brought in to start and upgrade the return game immediately.
