Newton reacts to criticsm about how he reacts to losing

Cam Newton has heard the jeers about his reaction to losses. He's heard people complain about the towel over his head, about the late-game sulking, about how hard he takes losses. At his Wednesday press conference, Newton reinforced what we already know: He doesn't like losing.

"A lot of people deal with things differently. Losing is difficult. Period," Newton said. "A person that says losing is not difficult, I don’t even want to be around that person. And obviously that person has never won anything relevant in their life. So for a person to say, 'Yeah we lost and we have to keep going.' Yeah you keep saying that and sooner or later you’re going to look up and be 0-16."

So you have to take advantage of every opportunity you have in this league and you have to take it personal. Do I take it personal? Absolutely right. Do I take it too personal? Who knows? But I’d rather take it too personal than lackadaisical.

"Newton referred to his public displays of emotions as a lose-lose. "I’ve been hearing a lot about ‘takes it hard on himself.’ Absolutely right. And I feel as if I was laughing after games, if I was making things a joke, I think people would take offense to that."

(His backup, Derek Anderson, was once spotted on the sideline laughing during a big Monday night loss. He had a memorable reaction to being asked about it later.)

"I’ve been hearing so much about my reaction after the game, having a “psych coach.” It baffles me the things that I hear. But at the end of the day I’m still going to be Cameron Newton and the goals that I have set for myself personally from the start has to be met by myself first and this team second."

kinda curious to what he exactly means by this, does he have personal goals followed by team goals?

As I said before, this team must have a winning record if this is the ish the media rather focus on.

Not how the team plays...NOPE...Or, how the team can get better as a team....NOPE...The stuff these folks in the media rather spend countless hours analyzing is Cam body language on the side line and how much it bothers them.

Clearly the media LOVES this team and is not all about Cam...NOT

Cam...Cutler called. He said to tell the media to grow the fug up.

All he means is that he has to live up to his expectations for himself first and then his expectations for the team will follow. He realizes that with his success so goes the team.

Yes he does... And said it earlier in season. Wants to eliminate bad decisions (int's)

There's nothing wrong with what he said... And fug anybody who tries to blow it out of proportion ... Whether it be someone here or in the National Media

Cam said his goals have to be MET by himself first and the team second. He never said anything about putting personal goals in front of the team.

I hope he never changes Cam will go down as one of the greatest QB's ever

No, he will go down as one of the most immature, selfish, and whiny QB's ever. The fact that Steve Smith had to pimp slap him for sulking like a little girl should be enough. I won't even bring up his stupid "pretend to be an airplane" entrance on the field, or his multiple version of how to look like a tool by "pretending to rip my shirt and show that I'm the 4534653463 person to pretend I'm Superman".

The kid has natural talent, I will give him that. I won't even argue that he could be great. His personality alone will be his downfall. He scores a touchdown Sunday against the Falcons, his teammates want to celebrate with him (You know, because this is a team sport), and he blows them off completely to do his god awful Superman tap dance?

He won't be great until he starts acting like the great ones. I doubt Carolina players will continue to fight for him the longer this continues.

No, I don't hate the Carolina Panthers. I actually enjoy our games. Now the Saints and Buccaneers are another story.

TLDR: Cam needs to grow up before he will be great.
