Look at this pic, Norman is too far off White and Naka is in no mans land with White and Jones. For some reason Beason was covering Jones and Godfrey was late getting over. Yes there is safety help but Naka has to choose to help Beas with Jones or Norman with White.

Norman is defending the sideline....so they can't get out of bounds for medium yardage. Nakamura's job was simple....keep them in front of you and you can easily breakup a deep lob

People are giving Norman a pass because of wishful thinking or whatever but he has been awful. He was the one who blew the play so badly that he was nowhere to be found. Nakamura was within inches of defending the pass.

It's interesting that people who follow a sport so closely never even accidentally learn anything about it.

He was the one who touched Roddy down. Naka was on his back at the time. But let's not forget one is a 5th round rookie (we expect to make mistakes) and the other is a 5th year Vet. Who was suppose to be a good "tackler" and intelligent player. How intelligent do you have to be to know that as a FS you can't let a WR get behind you. Which he did 3 times.

Maybe that would have worked if you had someone guarding Jones, holy hell are you people blind? I am showing you footage and it's labeled. Naka is caught between White and Jones since both of their defenders are beat and Godfrey is late to help. Listen to me Naka did a bad job too all I am saying is our D scheme that play was awful (Beas guarding Jones, Gamble on the complete other side of the field guarding Douglas who is in max protect, and Captain guarding the flat) plus Norman was beat and Godfrey was late to the play. I wish it was just as simple as "well Naka sucks so let's just replace him" but it's not. McDermott dropped the ball on the D call and we had our WHOLE secondary look like bumbling idiots.

Bc they weren't running straight up man coverage where each defender simply glues onto a WR. Norman was suppose to prevent the easy out to the sideline.....keep the play in bounds.

All games down to needing decent FS play. That wasn't Madden nor Cam Newton playing QB for Atl.....if Ryan was going to take the deep shot then Ryan would have to throw a high lob deep for a jump ball.....any decent FS who kept the WRs in front of him would break up such a throw 9 out 10 times. Nakamura did the unthinkable.....let them get behind him.

Worst part is even though Nakamura blew it.....the throw was still so big of a lob he should of broken it up playing it wrong from the start and failed on that as well.

That play was an example of this team not having Ss....which we have seen for years now. Godfrey and Nakamura both played it poorly....lol, play action gets both even when it shouldn't

Norman job is to play the flat, but if no one is threatening him than he gets depth to help the safety(who plays deep halfs) out underneath. which was what Norman did, Naka did not hold up his job responsibility. why they were in cover 2 with 59 seconds left is just retarded but thats a different conversation.

So we can agree that McDermott made a terrible call on D? I will also have to stick with Norman was beat, Captain had the underneath coverage so Norman didn't have to worry about underneath. And I still think you fail to realize what all Norman was suppose to be covering....

Norman protected the sideline son they could get the relatively quick hitter and get out.....he didn't have S play over the top where it was suppose to be. Norman did his job. You seem to be confusing man and zone looks....and what occurs

Rivera bluntly addresses it post game. Nakamura had a simple assignment and blew it. And despite blowing it still should of broken it up.
