CB - More Man-Man

I agree with op. I was actually thinking about this shortly after the game. I trust Gamble on any WR in the league. Might not shut down the cream of the crop (despite doing just that last year, for the most part) but rarely will someone have a good day against Gamble. Stick him like glue to a team's number 1. Norman is still learning, but I feel one assignment, stick on the #2 for the whole game, will be easier for him than knowing when to peel off and cover someone else and what to do in certain situations and whathaveyou. Rookie learning curves are like 90% knowing assignments and playing man would make things simpler for him. When we play teams like Atlanta with two top tier WRs, have Martin (or Captain in nickle situations) help him out. Put Godfrey on TEs (works well enough against most TEs whose last name doesn't start with a G - Gonzo, Gronk, Graham) and I think overall our defense will be much better than having Safeties and a rookie CB trying to figure out zone schemes.

One thing I noticed on White's earlier TD that Nakamura fell down on was Gamble was on him at first, then peeled off for whatever reason, then Godfrey was helping, then peeled off for whatever reason, leaving Nakamura on him alone. I don't know if they were mistakes by Gamble and Godfrey or if that's what the defensive play called for, but leaving Nakamura on White alone should never be in the game plan.

Pass rush has been fine. Esp with how well Frank has been playing

Still not where we need to be in run stop

Def need a FS

Def need a RG

Def need a massive Run Stoper / Space Eater

The main thing we need above all is better coaching

Agreed. My top two priorities in the draft, first and second round, FS and Ron Edwards replacement. Doesn't matter which order, BPA from those positions first, and the other position in the second as long as the value is there. Only other position I would consider is WR if there's someone we absolutely love available. A real potential #1. Then a RG in the 4th, barring a trade up.

Any cover 2 / 3 would be (potentially) leaving Nak on White or Jones deep
