Rivera should be praised for fielding a prepared team

The only one I want to get rid of is the first person who talked about Rivera being "stoic"! Quit using that fuging term! Just like people can't say a team or player's name without putting "a" or "an" in front! So played out!

Rivera showed everybody that he's willing to make huge adjustments when things aren't working even though he also showed that he still has a lot to learn in this league. Rivera is a lot more active running the team than many think and can be down right aggressive with his calls. People who think that this team looking competitive on Sunday was completely by accident should be ashamed. Let's hope that Rivera and the rest of the team learn a lot from this game and leave Atlanta thinking about how different and improved they looked compared to last week instead of "We did the best we could and we're still bad." A lot of huddlers think like this and these kinda thoughts lead to 2-14 seasons, depression, masturbating in rage, and autism.

I appreciate your perspective on it, and true, for THIS game, Rivera deserves credit for having our team prepared to play one of the best teams in the NFL. We had them beat had the game been about 1 minute shorter.

That being said, there is a lot of evidence that suggests he isn't "active" running the team, nor aggressive in doing so.

The infamous "we played too soft in coverage" quote after the Giants game is a fine example. It suggests he does very little on gameday. Now, it appears when a final say is needed, he makes the decision (punt on 4th and 1, timeouts, etc.), but otherwise, it appears he lets the coordinators do their thing on gameday.

I'm sure he plays a role in adjustments but I get the feeling he is not very involved from play to play on either side of the ball in terms of strategy, selection, etc.

Secondly, I can't be happy with him having our team prepared to play Atlanta. Why? Because what happened the first 3 weeks? What happened to having a full offseason to prepare "attacking" and imposing our will on Tampon Bay? What happened to having our team prepared to play New York in Cam's first national primetime appearance?

Those losses were beyond embarrassing, all things considered.

He had us prepared to play for the first time, legitimately, against a full squad and coaching staff, in the 4th week of the season. So were the first 3 weeks just practice?

It's inexcusable.

No, we can't win every game and we won't win every game no matter how good our team is - just ask the Patriots. BUT, we should be PREPARED every week. All of these moral victories are for the birds. Yes, we are young, but when is it time for us to expect more and quit mistaking mediocre performances for improvement and progress?

This is the NFL. He should have us prepared EVERY week. What happened with Tampa Bay and NY should not have even been possible. So, I'm not going to pat him on the back for doing what he's supposed to do every week. It's his job. And in addition to that, it can be argued that his in-game decisions are what lost us the game he had us prepared for.

I truly hope he proves to be "the right guy for the job," but the results are trending differently as of right now. I hope he gets it together because I'm tired of getting halfway through each season only to realize, "Well, we should be consistent and competitive next year with our new draft picks!"

A coach in his sophomore season as an NFL head coach is going to experience growing pains just like a 2nd-year, 23yr old QB will.

Rivera's clock management is an issue that I hope he will address along with any personnel moves.
