Frank "The Mother F*cking Tank" Alexander - 90 - DE

Let me first say after a slow start, Kuechly has really picked it up the past two games, Nortman is punting better than Baker was, Silatulu & Norman are looking strong but have had their respective speedbumps...

but Frank Alexander has been playing at the most consistent and highest level imo. Every time he is in the game he just doesn't quit at all. Constantly trying to shove the OL out of the way, mutli-move attacks, balance with that edge rush, hands flying for the swat down...constantly bringing heat. This may be due to a better interior presence but one of his best plays this past Sunday was from the interior HIMSELF.

Beyond the stat sheet when you watch him play I think its clear he is going to have a good future barring any injuries [knock on wood].

He's got the size, athleticism, and importantly: a nose for the ball & always pursuing. He's always snuffing a play out.

So far in the first quarter of the season, he is my favorite draft pick but really all of them are looking like solid contributions. [minus good ole' Joe but I'll give him another chance]

Alexander looks like a steal but I feel like we do this every year.

Oh man what a fantastic draft! looks like we got some steals!

2 years later: MAN WTF

There's reason for Optimism right now. Watch the games, you'll see the guy has 'it'. Giving up a 3rd round draft pick for him is definitely a steal, as long as he keeps producing the way he is.

That happens to some players no doubt.

fe, after Martin came in and randomly balled out against Arizona that one year we thought we had something...thought someone like Irvin clearly never showed anything, Hardy has been solid, Norwood never really showed much but Alexander has worked his way on the roster, consistently is causing problems for lines, and showing more than I've seen in quite some time from a Panthers rookie Dlineman.

He's proving why people said he was a first or second rounder before that heart condition scare set him back (even though he was good to go)

He ain't no shrimp either at 6'4 270 and can still do our hybrid sets (he's hellathletic)

This whole draft class has been really good, Norman probably has the most to work on so far, but corner is a hard position to come in and play well right off the bat. Silatolu had a really rough first game but has been really solid since, kuechly is just getting better and we need to leave him on the field.

It usually takes the first half of the season or so for rookie corners to "get it". Patrick Peterson kinda sucked in coverage the first few games of last season, then the light came on and now he's considered a shutdown corner. Not saying Norman is anywhere close to that level, but it's unfair to expect him to play like a vet right away.
