Rivera stands behind decision to punt

As he should...the series before is what Chud and Rivera should apologize for.

WHY IS DEANGELO IN A WILDCAT?!? On an important drive in the game? Opps 3 n out..it was cute.

Exactly. As I said last year and still say, Chud is bad in crucial moments of the game. He was still getting cute at the end of the game. That stuff costs you games. He has regressed in his playcalling tremendously this season also. I don't trust either of our coordinators. I would be happy letting McDermott go and Rivera become the DC/HC. He's too wildly inconsistent.

Rivera made the right call to punt the ball. The falcons would've tee'd off on our interior line had we tried to go for it or even worse Chud would've tried another cute 4th and 1 play and we'd all REALLY be calling for Rivera's head to be placed on a platter. I do believe Sherrod Martin needs to get his job back. I knew Naka was our weakest link but Martin was never this bad during his tenure. I like Naka's heart but he just looks way too overmatched for the nfl.

#1 rule of coaching, know your teams strengths and weaknesses. Yes he made the right call....that is if we have a normal NFL avg secondary, but we are the panthers. And the coach should know the secondary is atrocious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why risk the D blowing the game when they gave up big pass plays the whole game. Use our giant QB have some balls and get one yard! Even if we failed we would be pissed and the D would still
would have
lost the game anyway.

You play to win the game and we played to lose.

It was the correct call. In order for the Falcons to win after a punt they must:

1. Successfully throw one very deep ball.

2. Manage two short throws and get to the side line.

3. Hit the field goal (the 2nd quarter kick only like a foot inside the post).

If we go for it:

1. Stop one 1 yards run.

2. Make competions against a prevent defense on which they do not have to reach the sideline as there is time to be tackled in bounds.

3. Hit the field goal (most likely shorter than above and possibly also on the choosen hashmark).

I take the punt any day. Especially had it not worked the media had talked about nothing the "the most stupid call of the week" with all the goat awards to boot all week.
