Simple question.

He said most teams. Not all teams. Yes some teams can survive the loss of their starting qb, especially if they have a competent backup. Were you arguing that we don't have a competent backup to cam or that the whole team not named Cam sucks?

In 09 when we lost Delhomme and managed to finish 8-8 thanks to our running game carrying us through. Cam is our most prized possession no doubt. However to say we are the worst team in the leauge without him/saying our roster would like 2010 all over again is not a good assesment.

I do think the Panthers would be drafting top 3 if Cam didn't play another game this season. Granted we don't know how well Anderson could play, but I know he is no Cam Newton and the offense would struggle even more than it currently is. Things could turn around in a heartbeat but I just don't see this roster as much improved over the 2010 team outside of QB. You can highlight a few areas that might be better but there are just as many that have gotten worse.

Houston and New England are good examples and I'll grant you that. But they were both in pretty weak divisions the years that they won with backups.

I think most teams are fine for a game or two like the Roethlisberger and Mcnabb thing. I'd take Anderson over any of their backups for a game.

I don't really understand your point with Seattle.

For all those teams that play competitive without quarterbacks there are teams that lose theirs and have the ass fallout.

Last year the Bears, Buffalo, and Oakland looked like playoff teams until their quarterbacks were lost for the season or playing with injuries. The Colts went from certain playoff team to worst in the league.

My point was that Green Bay subbed in Matt Flynn for one game and he tore it up against a playoff bound Detroit Lions team. He performed so well that Seattle signed him to be their starter but he got beat out by a rookie. Green Bay would still be competitive without Rodgers.

We are one of the worst teams in the NFL WITH Cam. Why is this even a question?

this.

i've only scanned half the post in this thread so excuse me if this has already been mentioned...why are people assuming that if carolina didn't draft newton that they would have rolled with anderson or clausen instead of making a push for another qb later in the draft?

Please tell me where we got worse

Secondary (Richard Marshall over Norman), Linebacker, Running Back (because of age), Special Teams.

Might disagree with Linebacker being worse in 2012 with Kuechly drafted and Thomas Davis back from injury, but I'd take pre-injury Beason over the still recovering version in 2012. That alone makes the LB core worse

people are too hung up on names and history. overall, the lb core definitely got worse.

Seattle signed him for 20 million with 10 guaranteed, which isn't good money for a starting quarter back. Especially one that's hit free agency. And the rest of the league had a shot at him and passed. I think everybody just kind of knew that it was a good day against a bad Lions secondary.

I have no idea how they'd be without Rogers. But I do remember how everybody was like "The Bears would be fine with Caleb Hanie at quarterback" after he subbed in for Cutler in the 2010 NFC Championship game. And then he proceeded to vomit on himself with extended playing time. Same thing for Matt Moore here and countless other backups that were hot for a start or two.

I'm just saying, a lot of good teams would be screwed without their starters.

You have lost your mind. Nobody in their right mind would take Marshall over Norman. Norman has given up 55 yards a game thus far and 0 TD's. What has he done to make you hate him??

Linebacker is an even more ridiculous argument. You think Connor would start over Kuechly right now? Beason is not a 100% true, but Anderson is doing better this year than he did in 2010. Davis as the first backup smokes having nic harris. Then behind him we had jason williams and Senn who we still have. Now we have Jason Phillips instead of Nick Harris.

Special teams we still had a fumble machine in Goodson returning Kicks and Armanti who is still available to return punts if your prefer.

Our coverage units are better too. Kasay had aged at this point and did not have enough leg to handle kickoffs and you must be the only person to miss Jason Baker at punter.

I'm sorry dude but I don't think you have a fuging clue.

I said earlier i am very upset with this coaching staff right now. Ron Rivera has not proven yet he is capable of being a head coach, he has yet to really do anything to make this team better. All he has done is talk, the game planning is horrible, to much talent to suck that bad on defense and special teams. Comin out not looking prepared for games is the biggest problem of all, the Giants game looked like there was no preparation whatsoever. Even after the Tampa Bay he said himself they did things we werent prepared for...... Really? Cam has a ways to go before he is a elite QB but this teams isnt really doing anything to help him. Ron Rivera needs to to start making strides ASAP.
