Embarrassed by Jerry Richardson again: He was one of the leaders to keep refs locked out

I know we should thank JR for the team and everything but this team is still reeling for the two seasons in which team decisions were made bc the player lockout was priority over winning and building an elite team.

No free agents and keeping a lame duck coach has dug into the career of Beason(injured and now regressing) and James Anderson(28), Deangelo(29), Jordan Gross(32?).

My point is JR playing Ownership Alpha-Dog during the lockout has killed a few of our players prime years and now we do not have their successors in place. Kuchley the exception at linebacker.

So yes his ideals and desire to have athletes who all say yes sir with no tattoos is a pipedream as I watch the 49ers and other teams turn their fortunes around without blinking.

He draws pie charts, says the word "Boy" a lot...and regularly votes in Fox news polls.

If you are a fan and want to live in the moment and not take the long view, things aren't so bad. There is always hope things will get better.

If you are a player with Cam's talent and personality you have to take a more business like approach to the situation.

There is a good chance in a little over two years he will be courted by big market teams. I can easily see NY Jets, Dallas, SF or Denver making a play for him, among others.

If the Panthers delay much longer in getting a winner in here as GM, Cam is as good as gone. Why would someone as talented and personable as Cam languish in a smaller market regardless of pay if the potential for winning a championship looks bleak?

There is a good chance Cam will make the same decision that other talented Panther players have made and take less money elsewhere for greater visibility and a better chance at a championship.

The best thing this organization can do is attract new management while we still have Cam, if he leaves it will be even harder to entice talent to come here.

The NFL is not set up for a franchise to lose its star. I feel the insecurity of the were losing him if we dont cater to him is wrong.

We can franchise him twice and offer more money than anyone else...we just need to quit the mentality that 7th round pick for soon to be cut players will make this a winning roster. Hurney kinda prides himself on the low rd pick for obscure guy...

Where is Tank Tyler anyhow?!

Yeah, how did that strategy work out for Hurney when we tried to keep Peppers from jumping ship?

I see the same scenario playing out if this organization doesn't wise up.

We'll spend a boatload of money forcing someone to stay that doesn't want to be here until the cost becomes too great and we watch him take his ball and leave.

Peppers did not want to stay..we never franchised him the second year..and CJ is more consistant in the run game anyhow(not a better DE but not that much dropoff)

The Peppers second Franch tag wasnt put on bc impending lockout and his indifference to staying.

If this teams wins 7-8 games the trend is still upward..

Agreed, don't think we should cater to him, well maybe a little, he is our franchise QB.

Point being, the mentality you are talking about with low rd obscure guys is likely never going to change. At least I have seen no indication that it will, have you?

Two and a half more seasons may seem like a long time in the future, but it will be here before we know it.

Hurney should have been shown the door long before Foxy

That was my point though.

If you were a talented QB and surround by mediocrity why would you want to stay?

Of course and hopefully we do, but I suspect anything less than a dramatic turn around in the next two years will result in Cam moving on.

Hurney has a tendency to pick the "project player or tweeners" even with his higher round draft picks rather than going for the "conventional wisdom pick". That failed approach has been killing this team's talent and depth for too many years.

Probably the weakest arguement of the whole thread.

"Hey he gave us a team, so you should be happy with the only 4 winning seasons we've had since 1995."

JR isn't just screwing the team, he's screwing the fans. The stadium is a boring family friendly atmosphere, where people shush you for getting too loud, that gets taken over by other team's fans.

JR is complacent with a GM that gives players stupid contracts and ignores key free agents that could help the team significantly just so he can say he has a team full of draft picks and undrafted free agents, like that is supposed to mean he is superior to other GMs in the league when really they are laughing their asses off at him.

JR is only concerned with one thing and that is money. He doesn't care enough about putting a winning product on the field. We the fans buy team merchandise and products and get told every year that we are going to be better and change. And every year we get f**ked and have to suffer through yet another horrible year where we have to hear other blow hards tell us "It's only preseason" or "it's only 1 game" or "it's only 2 games" or "it's only 3 games" or "hey we still have a chance" then finally "oops well lets talk about the draft, we'll be better next year!".

It's the same cycle every year. Even if we somehow end up with a winning record, which I see this as an 8-8 team at the most, I don't even have the confidence we would have another winning season the following year.

It's time for the fans to realise that even though our coordinators and GM suck, JR is the one that employed them. We will not be a successful team as long as Hurney is here. And he has a job for life for reasons no one knows due to a very piss poor resume. 3 winning seasons out of 10? Kiss my ass! Hurney is destroying the team and will continue to do so as long as JR is the owner. It is time for new ownership. As long as JR is our owner, you should always expect mediocrity because he could give a sh** what product is on the field.

I only have issue with Hurney and said he should bring his bags to the train station when Foxy left. I doubt if you'r qualified to swab a toilet but since you know soooo much about running an NFL franchise you should prolly give Jer a few pointers.

We've enjoyed some electrifying games and seasons which naturally boost our expectations to excel every year. While I'm not happy about the situation we're in, for a franchise in its infancy, we

have enjoyed some success. Try educating yourself about the history of the NFL and how hard itis for a team to be great, you act like snap your fingers and we have an instant winner....if that were the case every team would do that! There are no guarentees in anything. The recipe for winning takes many ingredients.

You're not a true fan... thanks for proving my point... go root for the cowboys, you have the mentality for that fan base...

The magic thing about Cam: If he wins, everyone will love him and we'll give him the moon and he'll want to stay. If he loses, people will hate on him and he may want to leave, but who would want a perennial loser as their QB anyway? If he's really good as we all still hope he can be, he's not going anywhere.

Also, how in the world did this thread turn into this same old discussion again??

What ever happened to respectfully disagreeing?

I do not have to agree with everything JR does. But I am a fan because of one very big thing...he got an NFL team in Charlotte against overwhelming odds.

So, if I ever disagree with him...I am certainly not going to trash the man. He does deserve some respect. He has earned it.

Jerry Richardson was 57 years old when he got the Panthers. He's 76 with a new heart now. The Jerry Richardson of 2012 is not the Jerry Richardson of 1993 and I think that's what a lot of people can't bring themselves to recognize. Time catches up with all of us. It's not some evil thing. Who doesn't know someone that was very different mentally at age 76 than they were at age 57? Whether it be age or that new heart or something else we'll never know about, he has rocketed down the list of great owners in the league near the bottom. He's a lot like Bill Bidwell of the Cardinals now, while he USED to be a top 10 owner as recently as somewhere in the past decade. Now he appears to care 100% about himself and those he's fond of like Marty Hurney or players like DeAngelo Williams, everyone else in the world be damned.

You just brought up all the worst arguements someone could make in this thread.

First of all, since I don't have blinders on like you do and can see through the bullshit unlike you, you have nothing left but "since you think you know better, why don't you try it". That is one of the lamest arguements.

I doubt anyone here can become President, but since they pay taxes and vote, they sure as hell can call out the President's bullshit. We the fans invest a lot into this team. And if it's f**king up then we sure as hell should call them on it.

Just because someone isn't a sheep like you doesn't mean we should all just sit back and be happy with this very mediocre franchise.

Another lame arguement you bring up is the other sorry ass franchises that have existed in the NFL. I couldn't give a sh** about them. Just because they were sh**, I should be content with how sh** my team is? I bet you rarely better yourself in life because you compare the situation with other crap situations and go "meh, im good". What a lame excuse to use to avoid having to deal with real situations.

The lamest possible arguement you could bring up is the true fan arguement. That's so laughable I don't think I should even comment on it. How could you not see how dumb that was? Were you expecting lots of pie and rep from that? lol

I won't say you aren't a fan like you did to me, but I will say that you are in denial.
