Statistical review of the Falcons...(premium stats included)

if the falcons gameplan defensively calls for base nickel, then you have to take what we give you on the ground game. I expect a different gameplan this game however given that your offense is more predicated on the run than the previous offenses we faced.

to stop the falcons offense... good luck. at the dome there is no way to stop them with how they are playing right now. I saw the game against the giants and if the panthers play like that then its going to take a shoot out with a epic performance by Cam to win

Zone blitzes are blitzes; Also stunts are not effective on good QBs and Olines.

They are blitzes, but they don't mean you are rushing more than four.

Most zone blitzes your goal is to confuse the line, by dropping de in coverage, blitzing a LB in his place.

Forgive me for not stating that, I wasn't very clear on what I meant.

True, and to be honest a good game plan comes down to exploiting mismatches and executing the plays called. Still not to blitz Ryan at all would be about as good result as we had with not blitzing Eli. Or honestly not blitzing Cam for that matter. Good QBs need to be blitzed in some way and Im not really talking about fire blitzes where you send the house or 3 LBs for that matter. Just more than a 4 man rush that is predictable. The frustration with the Panthers fan is that our Defense has taken the stand to cause pressure with coverage and the Dline and we have been eaten alive by short and intermediate routes because of that. Poor playcalling is our biggest weakness.

Oh, I get this thread. Trying to make a win seem more possible by belittling the Fancant's stats.

Cool story, bro.

How did I belittle anything they have done? I did not make any crazy predictions. I posted every relevant stat about their players. Its funny I tried to post some relevant stats about our upcoming oppoenent to share with the other fans and pricks like yourself come in here just to talk poo. If you don't want to hear people talking about the panthers go somewhere else.

I agree completely you do have to bring more than four occasionally, no argument there. I just meant to imply teams that have the most success on Ryan are teams that make Ryan pass deep while maintaining pressure with a four man rush and having DB's play the short and medium passing game.

My teams inability to stretch the field is why we have been one and done in the playoffs and a weakness that can exploited with the right personal.

Those stats don't look overwhelming, especially considering they all came against the same division and that division was the AFC West. Still...they are a better team than us from top to bottom. To win this game we will have to be mistake free and our lines must come to play. For them to lose this game they will have to have mental lapses, turnovers, and penalties.

Key non-stat: they are a MUCH better coached team than we are. Smith > Rivera ; Nolan > McDermott

We can win the game (although it being in the Georgia Dome doesn't help) but we need to play lights out and they need to stumble. In past years they have dominated us. Last year, in both contests, we kept it close until the 4th quarter where coaching and playing mistake free gave them the edge. Could be a similar story. It might even be possible to hold them to about 17-20 points for 3 quarters if our ST and Def play decently. Its that 4th quarter drive that haunts me.

This is why we needed so badly to win the opener against the Bucs...Who really looked at that schedule and thought we would win this game? Best case we would be 2-1 coming into this contest with a chance to go into the bye week at 3-2. Its not out of the question, but the road just got a lot harder.

Apparently, our idea of a terrifying blitz is to line up one of our LB'ers or CB's or a safety alongside the 4 down linemen, and they all rush straight ahead to make it easier on the opposing offense.

It wouldn't be nice to surprise the other team. We have to be honorable, and show them exactly what we are doing pre-snap.

Which is what worries me most about this game. We haven't been able to generate pressure using a 4 man rush. In truth, we haven't generated much when blitzing either. Our best blitzing linebacker is Davis, and he may or may not play tomorrow. And the short and medium passing game has killed us this year. I felt like Sproles caught 30 passes against us..

Our best shot at beating your team is if the offense has a stellar day and doesn't turn it over and maybe you guys screw up and turn it over once or twice.
