Peter King takes shot at Newton; predicts us to lose.

Recommended Posts

i don't really care what peter king has to say (unless it's positive because i'm a homer like that) and i'm sure the team doesn't either. a win sunday will shut everyone up. they just need to win.

If you're team is only respected when they win, that means you're team isn't part of the chosen teams. Recognize that.

This is why I love teams like the Gaints. They go out and play the game and that's that. They don't get caught up in the clownishness that has become our media. Their coach run a very strict close door policy with the team and media. And the media cannot stand the team for it. That's one of the reason why the media is always quick to promote the Jets over the Gaints even thou they're the better of the two teams.

Maybe it's time to spend less doing things to win the approval of the media by ass kissing and just play the game.

isn't

I am not sure that a win on Sunday will make everything all better. There are still underlying maturity issues with Cam that do need to be addressed. He does have a tendancy to sulk on the sidelines....to seem disinterested in working with the QB coach on the sideline....with sitting off by himself when things don't go well.

He is young and he is immature.....that is a fact. I believe (hope) that he learns these lessons and realizes his full potential....which is immense.

But, sometimes you need a kick in the ass to realize that you have not arrived.....and I think that is what Smitty and the media are providing. I will be interested to see how Cam reacts to it.

And what are those "underline maturity issues" you folks keep reading into everything Cam does? So far I see a pretty normal 23 year old. He laughs, jokes around with his teammates and get pissed when his team loses like the rest of his team.. What is so immature about that? Are other QBs doing anything differently?

Is there some blue-print of a VERY mature QB that you feel Cam should be trying to imitate? It seem the whole immaturity accusations is as shallow as everything else the media has created about this kid.

Isn't it funny how we're to assume Luck is so mature based on nothing more than the media portraying him in that light but Cam is immature base on nothing more than the media painting him as the next VY.

I seriously LOL'd at this... you have a very short and selective memory.

If Cam goes off everyone will go back to praising him.

That’s the nature of modern sports media. Lots of fluff and less substance. Most just pander to less knowledgeable fans(the majority) and write/say whatever gets the most views/ratings.

There are very few excellent writers who actually give analysis and not fluff and sadly that amount is getting fewer and fewer.

The good thing is Cam has a proven track record of proving/quieting doubters/haters wrong. Fully expect him to come out firing against Atlanta.

Let me sum up what Peter King is really saying:

Cam, you cannot be forgiven until you kneel at the alter of the media, bare your soul and beg for forgiveness.

Beg for forgiveness because they chased and pushed a false pay for play scandal because of Auburn? Or, beg for forgiveness because they spent endless days ripping him apart during the draft so he would fall down the board and he didn't?

As they say, hell hath no fury like a media not having their ego driven way.

    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
    • I didn't say I would have done it. I was just saying that I can see why some in the FO considered it. Everything was done to give Bryce weapons. Solidify the interior line thru FA. Get XL at WR in round 1 and then get the most talented RB in round 2. Take a TE in round 4, etc They were probably "assuming" he'd make a complete recovery during the 2024 season. I'm a skeptical person. I wouldn't have assumed he'd be ok in 2024. I personally would have taken another position in the 2nd for that very reason. But, if I were "influenced" to take him I would've argued to keep him off the field, especially seeing how things were going for us record wise. Conventional Wisdom says most backs don't get back to normal until two years after the ACL surgery. He was injured in Fall 2023. Having him suit up in 2025 would have been almost 2 years since the original injury. You have him for 3 year on low contract. If he balls out, you resign him for a couple of more years b/c he'd only have 3 years of tread on the tires. If he's ok but not great you let him walk.
