i'll still probably be doing a month or so of excavating in mexico sometime next year. i'll also probably take a month and do some work on paleolithic sites in tanzania well before the baby is due, and maybe somewhere after while she's on her maternity leave (this depends entirely on what programs i'm working on.)

and then we'll take a vacation in the fall, maybe to eastern europe or turkey.

Yeah....that all sounds like a guy who has no clue what is coming. It's ok. I didn't either. Not sure any of us did.

My (ex) wife was in labor, I was trying to coach her thru contractions...they had this little belt sensor thing around her belly to show the contractions. You could kind of see them coming.

She starts screaming and I say "its OK this one is just a little one".

Bad move. Don't ever say that.

DONT TELL ME THIS IS A LITTLE ONE !!!!!!!

(I didn't know it but the sensor had slipped) :)

I did the same thing (except that the sensor had not slipped)....and got the same reaction.

I also was trying to help her find her focal point and breathing. Telling her to breath and relax.....she immediately yelled at me and told me to shut the fug up and that the sound of my voice made her nauseous.

I think even the nurses and doctor felt bad for me.

I seemed to do and say the wrong thing all day long......story of my life.

Congrats man!

Yeah go ahead and scrap all plans for the immediate future. I hear people mention this thing called "free time" and I'm not sure what they're talking about.

I think that free time is about 3am when I get up to take a piss. About the only free time I have left anymore.
