My dog killed a chipmunk

On Sunday, my dog caught a vole in the backyard and left it by her bed for me to find when I was sweeping the floors....

she needs to hurry up and catch them all b/c her digging holes all over my yard trying to get to them is annoying.....yet at the same time it's cute when she runs up to me and her face is covered in dirt from trying to get at 'em

My dog knows the words "squirrel" and "bunny rabbit". He saw a rabbit dive under a bush on the other side of the fence the other day and was running back and forth yipping like a little puppy. Dude, you think the rabbit is really going to come out and play??

there's a family of fox that live in the woods across the street from me. They cross the road to scavenge for trash around the condos. When I walk my dogs at night they run back across the road to trees edge, and then my dogs and them proceed to have a stare off for about 5 minutes before they eventually turn and hop into the woods. It's almost surreal. My dogs don't bark and don't try to go after them, they just stare. IT's like both sides are trying to figure out what they are. There's four of the fox and one male is probably about 30lbs, he's huge.

There was a German Shepard (mascot) at a large military compound I pulled guard duty at back in the day. He would chase down all sorts of furry rodents and toss them in the air and then catch them. He continued to play "catch the rodent" until the animals became unresponsive. Pretty gruesome way to go if you are a rodent. It might be surprising to some, but the dog, Arthur, was the nicest animal in all other respects.

my oldest dog has done this with birds a few times. I saw him catch one right out of the air that was brave enough to fly over him from one part of the fence to the other. Another time he got a baby bird that was trying to figure out flying for the first time. The mama was going after my dog, and quickly figured out she was about to get eaten herself. I was a little sad to see that, but what are you gonna do. Survival of the fittest.

I ran over a squirrel on the way to work yesterday.....

...and last week one of my dogs caught 3 deer completely by surprise in my front yard. 2 of them took off across the street, but the 3rd made the mistake of running into my backyard with Chief stride for stride right alongside. Thought he was gonna take it down right then and there until it made a sharp turn into the woods. That boundary training sure paid off- not even a deer got him to break the imaginary line...
