Walking dead season 3

dale died eventually anyway. everyone dies eventually anyway.

there is a huge difference between cliched, cut and dry, safe writing and a dangerous, daring writing style that will sacrifice characters for the sake of plot. daryl makes rick's group too strong. that's why he has to die. that's the formula kirkman adheres to. false sense of security, bam, major strength of the group taken down. daryl will be replaced by tyreese, or abraham (who is way fuging cooler than daryl anyway) or someone else. a crazy preacher. a ninja samurai named jesus. a reclusive rastafarian named ezekiel.

having safe characters on a show like the walking dead is bullshit, and i'm pretty sure with kirkman still pulling strings behind the scenes that no one is safe.

its only mildly irritating because you're talking about things you don't really comprehend as if you know for a fact that daryl can't die.

i guarantee you i know more for a fact that daryl will die, and how he will will die than you know for certain he won't

but we're still cool bro :D

daryl dixon is a dead man. carl is probably the lone untouchable, honestly. either him or rick. i expect rick to die first.

I agree. In Walking Dead world any time a character that isn't Rick/Carl gets a big fanbase they ALWAYS die in some horrific and shocking manor. See: Tyrese, Abraham, Glenn.

I know the actor in the pic, but I don't watch the show (Game of Thrones, right? Not my thing)

To be clear, I'm not gonna say Daryl, Rick or anyone else can never die, but barring one of the actors departing the show, I just don't think they will.

Honestly, I prefer writing where anything can happen and no one is safe (heck, I think the Star Wars universe would be infinitely more interesting if Luke turned to the dark side).

But here's the thing: You're talking about the creative process. I'm talking about the medium.

In comics, story is everything, but TV is a very actor driven medium. Within it, the majority of shows that lose their top-billed actor don't survive for long after. Kirkman may or may not not care about that fact, but I'd wager the execs at AMC care a lot.

While I'm sure Kirkman has a high level of control on the show, I doubt he has absolute power. Thus, if he decides to kill one of the main people, he'll have to convince the folks at AMC to sign on. My opinion: that won't be an easy task.

one of the reasons darabont was booted was because he and kirkman had a major dispute over whether lori should die or not

darabont didn't want to kill her

amc is not nbc, cbs, abc, or any other network that panders to it collectively ignorant audience

daryl has to die in order to give screen time and weight to tyreese's character. has to.

if he wants to kill someone, they die

as far as you saying GoT isn't your style, that's just being ignorant and you're better than that

GoT is written for writers. period.

How exactly is my not being into Game of Thrones "being ignorant"?

Where is it written that I need to be into a certain show to have a valid opinion about another one? I'm not into Breaking Bad either. So what?

If you wanna explain what the pic has to do with things, that'd be good. Without any context though, a pic from a show I don't watch and a "this guy says hi" caption don't really say much to me.

And no, AMC isn't one of the major networks. It's a cable channel, which means they start off at a disadvantage, which means they'll protect their high rating shows.

I'm okay with other people seeing and interpreting things differently than I do about this. Don't get why the insult is necessary. Jeez, we're just talking about a TV show.

I don't think anyone on this show is safe either, but I can honestly say that I'd rather them kill of Rick than Daryl.

I think it would be cool to see Carl and Daryl take over.

Last nights ep was good. The chase with the Gov and Andrea was well done.

Only two more to go... :(

With no football and no TWD on Sundays after two weeks, I'm not sure wtf I'll do then???

For what it's worth, I was reading an interview in Entertainment Weekly with Glen Mazzara and he was talking about leaving the show over creative differences, and then a few lines later he was quoted as saying "Who wants to be known as the guy that killed off Daryl?" I assume that he wouldn't give away a major detail like that for this season, but it could be telling for Season 4.

I don't think that Daryl is going to die.

And I was wrong about his new crossbow. I thought it was a Barnett Ghost 350, turns out its a Stryker 380.
