Panthers coordinators focus on fundamentals

I was fully supportive of McDermott entering this year. After all, he didn't have much to work with last year. But we seem to have regressed, especially in the back 7, in the first 3 games this year. I just don't understand how you can add in essentially 2 and 1/2 (Kuechly, Beason, and the reduced-role Davis) first round picks at LB, a new 2nd corner (albeit a rookie) and a new FS, and actually look worse in some ways.

Atlanta is going to be very telling.

Blah blah blah. I feel like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, we lose and our coaching staff says the same tired crap. With Rivera it's always "this is a process, we are a young team and things take time" With Sean Mcd it's "I was very disappointed with our performance, we will focus on what we do well". It will be the same lines after the Falcon loss this Sunday as well.

Shouldn't sound fundamentals be a given for an NFL team? If we are focusing on fundamentals, it means that it was not addressed appropriately in training camp and preseason.

This is not a disciplined team. That's a reflection of the head coach first and foremost. Ask the Giants if they are a disciplined football team under Coughlin? They know he will ream their butts if they screw up and don't work hard to correct it. I'll bet you they didn't come out and say they needed to go back to fundamentals after they lost their week 1 game to Dallas. They are professionals and they are expected to act and play like it.

Rivera doesn't run a very tight ship...let's face it. If these players thought they were going to get their jocks handed to them in practice and meetings after a performance like that, they'd be a lot more disciplined on the field. Mental mistakes like shoddy tackling, missed assignments, and general indifference on the sideline are not seen on quality teams.

We are as talented as anyone...but we are about as disciplined as a JV high school team. Get it together! You can bet Atlanta is looking at our game tape and finding endless ways to exploit our undisciplined lines.

Well, there is no excuse for the pooty O and ST.....but defensively we lack talent at the positions that matter.

To me its pretty easy on defense get pressure on the qb and on offense you have to block. We do not have talent for a 4 man rush so bring what it takes.I am very disappointed we drafted we drafted a very high 2nd round pick for the OL and we have regressed. When will Hurney learn?

This is sooooooooo common sense

We obviously have guys that can get to the QB in Frank, Keiser, Applewhite. Find ways to just bring the pressure. We have freaking 2, not 1 but 2 defensive guys...

silatolu was poo his first game but he's played extremely well both games after that. with the full lineup in we looked outstanding against new orleans. against NYG we were missing bell, who i think is more instrumental than we give him credit for.
