yeah i really hope the panthers are stupid enough to give an undrafted player that speaks a fruity form of french from the nfl player producing factory that is Bishop’s College a roster spot

What a dumb post.

Lee's from British Columbia...no that's no in the UK or South America...BC is on the COMPLETE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE COUNTRY. Damn, some people are just that dumb. :yikes:

Perhaps I missed it, but where did Fiz say anything about the geographical location of British Columbia?

How was Fiz post dumb? Was it because of the French comment?

I'm sure Fiz knew Lee is from Canada, in which FRENCH and english are the common languages in Canada.

The only thing I'm hoping is that we actually fill out each spot with the best player, regardless of what name they carry on the back of their jersey, or what position in the draft they were or weren't taken.

2 of the only RB's that come to mind when I think of the "Straight Up" running style are;

W. Payton

&

A. Peterson.

Now I am not sayin this kid will be as good as them, but they are the only backs I know who made it big and run like that.

ohhh.. also the Redskins white RB in the 80's, his name is slipping my mind....

How about Eric Shelton? .... =)

He won't make a roster spot... Just sayin.

If speed is something you value, Goodson has plenty of it. but we'll see what happens. ;P

Personally, I absolutely do want Lee to make the team...if he earns it. Just like with every other rookie (drafted or UDFA) on the team.

The thing is that nobody on this forum knows anything about this kid, all we have to go on is this video and a couple of articles. But the fact is that nobody here has seen him play or can fairly evaluate his strengths or weaknesses, heck, even the so-called experts didn’t provide much evaluation of him (since they do very little, if any, scouting of Canadian prospects). Therefore, none of us can speak intelligently about his skill set and how it may translate to the NFL. So the real truth is that he is the definition of a wildcard, and there is no way we can make any kind of rational prediction about him at this point.

With that said, based on the video, he does appear to have decent vision, does not go down on initial contact, and has good speed (I don’t get where some people have gotten so focused on him jumping. I only saw that a couple of times, for the most part, though, he just hit the hole and ran hard). However, as someone said (Razor, I believe), he was playing in Canada, where the rules and field are different, as well as the players not typically being of even major college quality. The counter to that argument though, is that he was also playing with inferior players, which begs the question how much better could he be with an NFL line and downfield blockers like Moose? That's why we will have to wait until training camp to get any reasonable sense as to what he can or cannot be with this team.

I also do not think whether he makes the team or not is as black and white as many are trying to make it seem. I think Goodson is a good bet to make the team, not because he was drafted in the 4th round, but because he has the skill set and versatility to play multiple roles for the Panthers. So I do not think Lee is competing with him for a roster spot. Nor do I think he is competing against Fiammetta (whom I believe is an absolute lock to make the team).

Rather, if he comes in and shows that he is the real deal, then it's not inconceivable that he could end up taking Rosario's spot. Not as a TE, of course, but he could stay as a backup RB (probably inactive on game day), with the team using Goodson and Fiammetta to replace the blocking and receiving we would lose by dropping Rosario. Not to mention that I think Barnidge will end up surpassing Rosario as the #2 TE anyway, which would make Dante somewhat expendable, particularly if the team feels they have a high potential, but raw player...similar to what they did last year with Bernadeau.

For those keeping score, that would be 4 RB, 2 FB, 5 WR, 2 TE, which is a lot. But still only one more than we carried last year, so it’s not unimaginable. The team could also decide to go with only 4 WR (since the 5th is usually inactive on game day anyway) and use Goodson in the slot, which has been reported the team wants to do anyway (basically making him a de facto 5th WR). Goodson and Fiammetta (who also played some TE in college) provide the team with a lot of versatility which would allow them to do some unconventional things in establishing the roster.

For the record, I am not advocating this, nor do I expect it. I just wanted to bring up one possible scenario if Lee does come in and far surpass his UDFA status.

Just b/c you're from Canada (like ME) doesn't mean you speak FRENCH...I'm from TORONTO which is light-years closer to those smelly frenchys than BC....and Ontario is English as fVck

just sayin...

If he is good enough, I hope he makes the team. I will have to see him play and try and gather some insights from the coaches before I can give him a seal of approval at this point. To me it is both too early to say yay or nay because it will be his real or perceived potential on the field that seals the deal.

He seems like a very likable, realistic, mature and well-adjusted guy, so I do hope that he puts his best foot forward and it all comes together for him. Just the person that he seems to be, alone, makes me wish him good luck.

Who the hell cares how he talks anyway as long as he can communicate with the coaches and his teammates? That's a pretty dumb and narrow minded reason to root against somebody.

I'm pulling for every last one of these draft picks and UDFA's because we need all the good players we can get since we lost players but didn't replace them through the FA route. Now, I don't know much about Lee, because of all the RB's he will be competing agains, but I do know that some of these undrafted kids probably have a better chance than usual to make the Panthers roster this year. It's a given that a couple of these undrafted linemen will make it. Hell, I even want the guys that don't make it to be good players, because they will push the other guys at their position to get even better.
