NFL Owners

As clarified by famous Goodell Aplogist Peter King?

The fact that you're calling Peter King a Goodell apologist is hilarious, considering he has routinely ripped Goodell, the owners, and the replacement refs, saying over and over how the integrity of the game is dead due to the replacement refs. Just check his Twitter feed.

Its a little more complex than just the retirement plan.

The NFL wants to give the refs about a 15% pay raise and the refs want more. The refs should get it.

The NFL wants to shilft the pension to a 401k. Not sure about that one.

The NFL wants to hire a few full time officials for training and other things, the Union is against that. The Union should relent.

The NFL wants to hire more officials. The Union believes this will depress salaries and make it easier to get rid of some officials. THey should meet in the middle. Hire less officials than the NFL wants, but more than the Union wants (the union wants 0).

From everything I've seen from the refs arguments, it's all about the pensions.

Of course they should lose their pensions because all the rest of us have.

This is what I have seen as well.

But I am of the mind of never offering a pension if I am a government entity or a corp.

I would raise pay, and 401 match, but pensions should be a thing of the past.

Go to work for a town picking up trash at 18 and retire at 48 with 75% of your last three years paychecks. That's absurd. That town would be paying that money in many cases for the next 40 or more years.

Bankrupt.

Yeah cause that's exactly what the refs are asking for.

It kind of is.

At least that is similar to what the current deal gives them.

Fwiw, the real sticking point regarding retirement is that the ref's don't want the changes to apply to current employees/ref's. They are ok if the NFL gives it to new hires, just not to existing ones. The NFL wants it to apply to everyone.
