Why the Hurney Hating after Giants loss?

Its based on the fact that it took him forever to realize his mistakes and change his ways. He thought you could win without a franchise QB... and now he is convinced that you build a team through running backs and linebackers when those are the two most disposible positions in football. Yet he has neglected the d-line, since Peppers left. He has not picked a DB in the first three rounds og the draft since Gamble, and we are in a passing league!!!

Then when he goes on the radio to talk about it, he comes across as a smug SOB. If you did your job this poorly for over 11 years would you still be employed?

He signed an extentsion after one of the worst seasons in our history, put our backs against the wall with a terrible cap sitution, and left the team with no depth anywhere.

He has to go.... www.firehurney.com

Ohh and the reason there is all this hate all of the sudden, is because the national press is calling him incompetent at best..

I'm still 50-50 on Hurn dog. After this season though, I may not be.

That's how I've been too. If Rivera turns out to be a good hire, that will buy him a little grace. If not, he should get his walking papers at the same time.

I was doing some research this morning that really brought home some of the mistakes we've made salary-wise. Thomas DeCoud, the safety for Atlanta, was drafted in the 3rd round of '08, just like Charles Godfrey. DeCoud is turning into a really solid player, while Godfrey is still in the average category. Both were given contract extensions off their rookie deals, both for a 5 year term. Godfrey's was for $27 million. DeCoud's was for $17 million.

What makes Godfrey worth $10 million more than DeCoud? I don't have a clue.

I have been hating on Hurney for 5 years. He just sucks. He signs people to contracts they wouldn't get anywhere else in the league, his drafting has been awful for the past 3-4 years, he trades away draft picks and looks like a dumbass EVERY time. What good team trades AWAY draft picks? Just because we beat an average Saints team doesn't change the facts. Both teams that had decent guys on the LOS completely annihilated us.

Agree with all this except the part about the Saints. They were little more than a hot pile of poo when we played them.

I think if you hate Hurney then you have to hate him for his philsophey to building a team and not because we could have draft so and so player in the 3rd round who became a stud. Anyone can build an easy Superbowl team after the fact.

You have to look at the decisions he made and the situation and context surrounding them to judge them fairly.

For instance, for years we've been trying to find a solid 2nd WR. Everyone agrees there. So, our scouts and managment see Armanti Edwards sliding during the draft and we have him ranked very high. Do we got get him or let him pass? If my scouts and brain trust has assessed him correctly and you belive in your assesments then you go get the player.

Now, after the fact if AE turns out to suck then it was a bad move. If he turns out to be what you assessed him to be during the draft then everything is great. You do the work, assess the player and the situation, then make a decision.

If you think the assesment was wrong blame the scounts. If you think going aggressively after a player your team/brain trust has a very high value on then yeah, hate on Hurney.

I happen to like our philosophy of building through the draft, playing it light in free agency. I also think it's a reflection of the way JR wants to do business is that you reward player who we drafted and have produced for you. I not as on board with the make your strengths stronger approach because it can leave you so barren at other areas but I can see where Hurney might not agreea and believe it's so hard to find a good player that when you do it's better to hang on to him rather than take a chance on a FA.
