I can't wait for every first-quarter offensive play to be a read option or deep pass. Especially once we get the ball for the first time at our own 20, down 7-0 with 12 mins to go in the first.

When I watched the Falcons - Broncos on MNF last week, what I noticed play after play is that Matt Ryan doesn't stand in the pocket. He has quick reads every pass play. Even on the play action when his back is to the WR's, as soon as he pulls that ball back in, he is turning and firing almost in one motion to the spot where he knows his WR will be.

Maybe this is to offset his supposed weak arm for the deep ball, but a defense without a pass rush against a dink and dunk style passing attack with slants and short crossing routes, it feels like we could run into the same buzz saw as last Thursday night.

I would be interested to know what our defensive game plan will focus on.

Probably playing the DBs 20 yards off the line scrimmage again.

The best part about this game, is if we lose this forum will continue to be the whiney shit show it has been the past couple of days.

1. how prepared the Panthers are to play and the coaches adjust.

2. a stop by the defense on the first 2-3 drives. Even field goals are a moral victory

3. Newton composed and making the appropriate reads and shorter passes to move the chains vs. 'home run' blind throws

4. running and hard football between the tackles

5. someone, anyone, on the Panthers to be a playmaker when it's needed in any part of the game, any part at all.

Of course, i want a new Mercedes SL550 for Christmas too and that isn't going to happen either.

I think after this last game and long break we will see a lot of changes schematically and personel wise. I would think at least. We can't play zone versus the Falcons. We just can't do that. We have to lock down the receivers at the line and play physical against them.
