Sam Bradford today

remember Alex Smith in his first few years? Who's to say when to give up anymore

Right though?

If you think back long enough, we have watched the landscape of the NFL change on it's axis in regards to QB play.

Guys drafted in the first round used to get years to develop. Now? Two years. Maybe three tops. I attribute this hyper active to twitter, the media, and everything being now, now now. Dollars have infused the game with fickle fans who have changed. I could write a damn thesis on it. But basically since the 2000s if guys don't win a super bowl before age 27 they suck.

You know who I thought could play whose fan base ran him out of town? Jason Campbell. The guy was not the problem in Washington. It was everything else, but not him. He wasn't perfect, but definitely could have won there with better players around him. They kind of just made a move to make a move. I don't know. I have a lot of respect for organizations who will stick with a guy. Organizations that jump around and are flighty on their QB and coach are like the Browns. They're stuck in purgatory forever.

And I don't have a reason why Bradford doesn't really put it all together. He just doesn't. Seems like this lack of weapons thing has kind of snowballed. I loved him as a rookie. Last year, awful. Absolutely awful. This year, really no one to throw to and seems a little bit gun shy at times but still has one of the best arms in the game.

I just feel like St. Louis has made some bad mistakes by not getting a true #1 WR and TE weapons for him. Fisher will have that defense turned around in a year's time.

Cam will be a player as long as he matures. He better realize that the thing that separates Brady, Brees, the Mannings etc...is that they don't let difficult circumstances affect their play OR their ability to lead. He has already compromised his ability to lead last year. He's not going to have a whole lot of clout with the vets (like Smith and Gross) if he doesn't mature.

Hopefully for his career's sake and our franchise's sake he wakes up and stops acting like Vince Young and more like Tom Brady (the guy he said he looks up to).

This is the first time he has been on national TV so maybe the negative press will force him to wake up.

Absolutely awful against the Bears. I've paid close attention to his career. He isn't a great player at this stage. Has a lot of problems. Seems like the light should have came on long ago but just hasn't yet.

I wonder if the Rams brass and fan base is ready to start over? I doubt it.

You have to realize week to week, there's like two or three QB who consistently week in and week out cannot be questioned for their performance. QB in the NFL is that tough.

Eli, Brady, Rodgers, MAYBE Brees and Roethlisberger.

And that's all.

Otherwise, every other guy is up, down, up, down and the good ones are up more than they're down. That's where our 23 year old guy falls. Even those guys I mentioned have bad weeks but they're far and few between.

My point is not every fan base overreacts like this. Bradford will be a player in the NFL, as will Cam. Major, major players who write great legacies and win huge games on huge stages off in the future.

We need to be patient and let it happen.

Probably, but who knows, Welker could go off. You're just having the worst luck with this Culter/Manning rotation. Whichever one you think to start next week, you should start the opposite.

GOD DAMN YOU GALLAGHER for a little while you were within 4 points of me if Torrey Smith continued to do nothing all night. But of course in one single play he got 25 yards and a TD and now you're not even in striking distance.

Welker could still get a 80 yard TD. Don't give up hope.

    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
    • I didn't say I would have done it. I was just saying that I can see why some in the FO considered it. Everything was done to give Bryce weapons. Solidify the interior line thru FA. Get XL at WR in round 1 and then get the most talented RB in round 2. Take a TE in round 4, etc They were probably "assuming" he'd make a complete recovery during the 2024 season. I'm a skeptical person. I wouldn't have assumed he'd be ok in 2024. I personally would have taken another position in the 2nd for that very reason. But, if I were "influenced" to take him I would've argued to keep him off the field, especially seeing how things were going for us record wise. Conventional Wisdom says most backs don't get back to normal until two years after the ACL surgery. He was injured in Fall 2023. Having him suit up in 2025 would have been almost 2 years since the original injury. You have him for 3 year on low contract. If he balls out, you resign him for a couple of more years b/c he'd only have 3 years of tread on the tires. If he's ok but not great you let him walk.
