Cam's attitude is his own fault. The guy gets paid millions of dollars to perform, he touts his abilities through endorsements and refers to himself in third person in press conferences. Now the apologist are saying that it's our fault he has a bad attitude, and that Cam's a victim and he's above the treatment of our other players. All this wouldn't even matter if he performed, but he doesn't. His stat line looks good sometimes but he possesses ZERO leadership. How many come from behind wins? Where's his C? I feel bad for the kid in certain regards....but business is business and winning is winning and if he hasn't turned his play around through the first half of Atlanta he needs to be benched.

That's garbage, untrue, and an insult to our other players. We would be in more games if he didn't take it upon himself to be the team. I'd be happy if he didn't throw 3 picks a game, or if he could just take a snap under center. Yes our D looked horrible against the Giants, but they played well enough to beat the Bucs.

Cam's play is not the issue at all. So by you trying to make it an issue you look like a moron. Him not taking a snap under center, and being the focal point of all aspects of our game by running an option set as our base offense is NOT his decision. That's a coaching decision. Cam can only run the plays that's he asked to run. Whether or not they are executed well is a team effort and not all on Cam. From a performance and execution standpoint, Cam is the LEAST of our problems.

So I quoted you and brought this up before, so I'll try again. When Beason called out Peppers he did so in an interview - before that interview there were no rumblings or rumors of Beason having an issue with Peppers play.

In Smith's case; he was overheard by the media yelling at Cam to get up and absorb the last few minutes of the game. He didn't blast that in some interview, or go on the radio to get that sentiment across - he was overheard on the sideline during the game by Brett Jensen. The damage had already been done. He was then asked directly about the comments and he responded honestly.

Now for him to have done it the proper way for you, what would you have had him done? Deny having said anything when asked, despite having already been quoted by the media. Claim that what Brett Jensen heard wasn't actually what he said?

No comment would lead the media to run stories about how there is a rift between Cam and Smith, how the locker room is a mess and that the team is fragmented. That's simply not true, and by talking to the media Smith essentially ran damage control. He aired out that he wanted Cam to continue to grow by soaking in the game despite how bad a performance the team has put in - to never let a learning experience go wasted no matter how depressed you are about your performance. Smith is a fiery asshole and he isn't going to hold your hand and talk nicely into your ear when he has something to say.

No comment does nothing but portray Smith as still being angry about something. I don't believe Smith was every really "angry" about anything.

Not really. Players get bitched at every Sunday on the sidelines.....that is football. Nothing wrong with it pending you don't cross a line. Cutler was a story bc it wasn't just bitching out a T....he bumped him.

You're right. I had honestly forgotten how he did it. But the point was that he did so of his own volition. Not because he was asked about it in an interview. The comparison would have been valid if Smith had sought out an interview to express his feelings. The reality is that he was asked for an interview to explain comments that had already been overheard.

Despite all accounts Cam is actually a human and just has some maturing to do. At least his immaturity is how he deals with failure on the field and not how he handles himself off the field. He has faced adversity before, and overcome it. Plenty of teams have dealt with high profile draft picks needing some attitude adjustments and maturation when the get to the NFL. I just saw a piece on ESPN about Vernon Davis being called out by Mike Singletary in his rookie year for being a selfish and bad teammate. Davis is now one of the best TE's in the business and a leader of the 49ers offense and credits Singletary for what he did. Cam needed a wake-up call, and he got it from probably the most respected member of the team, Steve Smith.

Cam is only just getting started. Quit dumping on your own QB and be a legitimate fan.

Only one of those picks was costly in the game. The other two were meaningless to an already lost game. Cam isn't unable to run a pro offense and making that assumption is ludicrous. The fact is that Chud has designed a gimmicky offense under the guise of being "innovative" so as to supposedly play off of Cam's unique skill set. This approach is quickly being exposed for the stupidity that it is. Cam needs to be running a pro style offense just like all the other elite QB's. His ability as a runner would only make him that much more dangerous. We do NOT need to be designing an offense around his ability to run, doing so is foolish. Cam can throw the ball, and throw it amazingly well. Let him play fuging QB - do not turn him into a glorified option running back.

When he fails at being their own personal Jesus, they put the kid's every mistake under a microscope. It's obvious that kind of pressure is getting to him...it would most of us.

All INTs are really on a QB. When you put a QB in 3rd downs where punting or throwing it away are worse options than a risky throw.....that isn't really on the QB. That is on the team. Same can be said for that "fumble"...loss of down not pitching it.

Stats last year showed Cam was actually better when under C than in the gun 1/4 of the way in last year. Newton can run anything with good play calling and not in desperation mode
