They've Noticed

Seeing him say that actually makes me feel better. Not out of schadenfreude, but just hearing that he feels something about it.

i can't believe anyone would doubt that.

so he doesn't wear his heart on his sleeve. is that a bad thing? he's considered to be one of the best DCs in the league by his results and he's got years playing D prior to being a coach. he's in the coaching tree of one of the best defensive minds the league has known....and his defense is FAILING. how can that not effect one's pride and make them feel like they are failing? how can that not tear you up inside if you have any bit of pride in what you do...and we'd be fools to think he has no pride.

just because you don't go around ranting and raving on the sidelines or wherever...just because you aren't visibly showing your disgust with your job or production doesn't mean you aren't feeling it.

he comes from a military upbringing where you are disciplined in everything you do, including a showing of emotions. he's not going to be some ranting bill cowher or jim harbaugh and he doesn't have to be. all he has to do is get the job done and how he acts when the cameras are on him isn't going to have any bearing at all on the job he's doing.

that isn't saying he's getting the job done, but his demeanor has NOTHING to do with his performance or his ability to get his players motivated and doing their job. some have to yell...some don't. it doesn't make one better than the other.

So what?

Every head coach the Carolina Panthers employed came from the defensive side of the ball. And while the Panthers have enjoyed a few years of defensive excellence, for the most part every one of those teams has been average or worse on defense. The head coach and his defensive philosophy mean nothing if the team does nothing to address the glaring holes and issues facing this defense squad.

By hiring a head coach with a defensive coacing background, that automatically means the defense will perform better? How's that been working out?
