Giants game revisited. A few surprises emerge...

I didnt know the announcers stated that but its true non the less. They confused Williams all night, I could post many pics of williams blowing coverage but its just not worth it. He did a terrible job of blitz pickup and at one point blocked the the farthist man out. Thats pop warnner right there.

Well, Gary wasn't going to move him....they didn't comment about that. That wasnt the issue. Commented he could of pur more pressure on JPP and gotten his hands out of the play. I just think it is wanting Gary to do the impossible all game. No sacks, no hurried, no QB hits. JPP just made a play there.

Gary wasn't a problem. JPP has had much more success against much better T.

Towel on the head must also equal hoodie to some folks. Which I guess means Cam is a "thug" in their eyes. Maybe that is where all the screams of him being so immature for wearing a towel to relax is coming from. Amazing how some folks can sit and read so much inegativity into a young man's actions.SMDH.

They wonder why the Panthers are where they're at in the league.

What the fug is this poo? King Taharqas alt? Get the fug out of here with that bullshit. You are fuging ignorant dude.

Wanted to add my 2 cents....

The only time I saw Norman (or anyone) play press coverage on a Giants WR (1st quarter I believe, on Barton), Barton beat the jam and caught a slant pass for a first down. Does not matter much, but something I pointed out.

The lines were flat-out dominated all night. A few plays I noticed Garry Williams standing back and letting JPP stand there, ready to bat down a pass from Cam (the one I saw would have been intercepted had JPP not bat it down...the corner was making a break for the ball). In that situation, I thought Williams should have been aggressive instead of hanging back and letting JPP come to him. I wonder if that happened all night throughout the line? That would influence a great number of plays.

Cam was just erratic with his throws all night. They didn't look very crisp.

The good news is that these problems are fixable and it's early in the season. The bad news is I've yet to see this staff put forth an effort to fix these problems. It's still early and they have time, but it's time for the coaches to actually step in and do their jobs. It's up to them to mask our deficiencies with clever playcallling and put the players in position to make plays. It's the players' jobs to make those plays and get into position. That was missing all the way around all night.

Our Oline didn't do as bad as I initially thought. Kalil should've adjusted the protection on the Boley/JPP sack, but again I didn't feel like they got dominated. The corner blitz was on Cam for not seeing it coming.

I thought the play calling was awful. We got pass the 50 yard line on one series, then Chud decides to use a "empty back" set on 1st down, out of nowhere.

After watching the game the first time, my original thought was that the talent difference between the two teams was the reason why we lost. Well that's not the case, it came down to coaching and execution. Don't get me wrong Nakamura sucks donkey balls, but that's not why we lost.

you mean the problems are fixable and the apocalypse HASN'T started?

The issue is not that the problems are not fixable. The problem so far is the coaching staff has not given us confidence that they will fix them yet. Of course I am holding out hope and am rooting for these guys to make the neccessary changes but thats just having blind faith and being a homer because i'm a fan.

We need to some major improvement by the time we play Atlanta.

Nice to know I'm not crazy and the only one thinking this was on the coaches not our players talent level.

Its a T job to do just that and is why Williams is a G not a T. Still the issue is Chud did not do Williams any favors either. We knew entering the game JPP would be matched up on Williams and we did not adjust.

I watched it once last night and just finished this morning.

Two times that I can say will be enough.

Where to start?

I guess I'll commence with the special teams.

They aren't as bad as some say they are. Calling for Murphy's head and all that, David Wilson's long run was 19 Yards. Jordan Senn was actually the one getting in on ever tackle. Kuddos for him. This night Special Teams wasn't really to blame for the loss.

Offense.

The Offensive line was very sporadic. Gross had more than enough with JPP. Kalil, Silatolu and even Gary Williams came to play. A huge Heads up play by Williams to knock that freaking ball off JPP's hands. If not that would have been 4 INT's. The Giants front 4 is just that good. There was a point in the game I thought to myself. Maybe Bell would have made a difference? But Williams did a good job either way, for the most part.

The Wide outs. Not much to say other than they tried their best to make something out of a craptastic performance by Cam and random play by the O-line. Everything is connected. IT starts at the Line of Scrimmage. A battle that was lost more than won. There was a play that D-will could have had a great play or even a TD had Smith blocked a little longer, but I'm not going to nit pick. It's all missed opportunities. one thing I am disappointed about with Smith is that he cost the team a penalty when it was going so well. That was a buzz kill. Truly was. Lack of Discipline.

Tight Ends. Olsen came to play. This is the Olsen we needed in Tampa Bay, the Olsen we kind of saw against NO. He honestly was the bright spot of the offense. He was also out there making blocks for the running game and Option plays.

Running backs, were not used enough in my opinion. The running game was there. It's right freaking there. Use it! There were several plays that could have gone for more but this option read kept hindering progress instead of helping. That's not even the RB's problem. It's not their fault. That solely falls under the Coordinator. Overall, Tolbert and D-will did a decent job.

QB play, I don't know where to begin. I guess I'll just lay it out there. Cam is not a full fledged leader yet. He's on the fringe. He's so close to greatness but these games are going to be what make him better. His footwork has been a huge problem, always. I have said this countless times before. He needs to work so much on his feet. He over threw several times, he under threw people as well. The Pass to LaFell that ended up being intercepted was a prime example of his footwork being off. Had he had his feet set, my goodness LaFell would have had a good 5 yard cushion to turn and run before he hit the out of bounds line. Could have gotten a huge gain. The Option play calling is getting figured out. There was a play where Williams just grabbed the ball and took it from him. I was so glad he did. He had a defender staring at him ready to make a tackle for a loss. Teams knew what to expect and we are becoming way to predictable. His demeanor bothered me a bit but not as much as others I suppose. One thing for sure he has to stop the sulking. He did sulk. When things are crumbling apart you need to be poised, calm and collective. Smith was right to do what he did. Light a fire under him.

Defense.

They didn't come to play. For the most part they did not. Our safeties are horrible. The Zone scheme should have been dropped after the first quarter. Should have played Man Coverage. Couldn't stop the run, not going to talk about the pass. I will mention the good parts I suppose.

Josh norman although he was beat a couple of times, he was everywhere. The guy is going to be better and better each game he plays.

Kuechly, looks like he's getting it now. If he keeps it up this could bode well for the D.

Alexander, has a sack, a good sack. He fought for that sack and it was all him. Again, looking good for the long run.

Dwan Edwards is my hero. The guy is tenacious and a presence on that line. Probably the best addition to this defense so far. It could be that Ron Edwards is helping as well? Whatever it is he's the sack leader and his name isn't Charles Johnson. Don't know whether to be happy or sad about that honestly.

Chud, McDermott and Rivera need to step up. Especially McDermott. His play calling was horrid. Chud was repetitive. Rivera needs to get into these coaches ears and be more disciplined with the players.

After all this, everything CAN BE FIXED! That's the silver lining. Everything can be fixed. I'm expecting an ass whooping next week, but it's going to be Atlanta getting it.

Good post OP.

IMO we have to do two things now as a franchise.

We have our QB, so now it's time to beef up the Oline and Dline.

We are overpaying RB's and we need OT's DT's and more pass rush. Get a good o line and you don't have to over pay RB's.

Get a good passrush and we can overcome our not very good secondary. These are areas that Hurney really needs to pay attention to if he is going to stay around.
